I guess I just find it weird that people are trying to say that Zimmerman is white, while leaving out that he is Hispanic as well.

Here is the rub,, with tens of thousands of murders in the US every year, its just not reasonable to expect media to cover them all

I think deaths by drive by shooting are a given part of the criminal landsacape that people know happen and expect to be prosecuted ,,,and Im also sure the LOCAL channels in those places do , in fact, report those deaths


deaths in which a black is killed by a non black are not prosecuted or convicted with that same confidence (particularly if the non black claims to have been defending themself from a black person),

and so when they happen under such SUSPICIOUS (out of the normal) circumstances, and IF there are family members who draw attention to it,, the media will jump on it

seems like it's mainly when a white kills a minority, white kids go missing, or a white woman goes missing... thanks nancy grace...

I think there are 'special' priority type pieces as well, but I will go further to say it seems to me that white women or children missing will be reported MUCH MORE OFTEN than black women or children missing (and that could be economic because of what the community around those victims are able to invest in getting them back)

I think for intra racial homicide, where the victim and killer are of same race,, the RACE is rarely mentioned in reports

in interracial homicide, where the victim and killer are not of the same race, RACE is more often to be mentioned in reports

so why wasn't this tried as a hate crime?

I dont know the laws in Britain quite as well, I dont know how they view such action or if the family chose to pursue anything but murder.

what I am suggesting is that the victims were BRITISH and visiting,

I am not familiar with the prosecution process, if the parents had any say in how they were charged, if they parents (or more accurately the prosecutor)felt there would be any gain in charging him with double homicide as opposed to hate crime,,,,etc,,,

what bothers me is people saying they are what they are not

i am not irish-american never even been to ireland---just like most african-americans never been to africa,,,,,,,except of course obama he was born there lol

so, to say one is irish american, would imply that one has roots in ireland although they are an american

similarly an african american has roots in africa although they are american

Parents of murdered British students criticise Barack Obama


The parents of two British students murdered in Florida have criticised President Barack Obama for his lack of compassion over their sons' deaths.


His failure to respond to three letters sent to the White House was because there was no "political value" and not worthy of a few minutes of his time.

They spoke out as teenager Shawn Tyson began a life sentence after being found guilty of the murder of James Cooper and James Kouzaris last April.

The 17 year old, who shot the men as they begged for their lives, will die in prison.

His conviction of first degree murder carries an mandatory life sentence without the chance of parole.

The powerfully built teen even looked bored as emotional DVD presentations about the dead men prepared by their grieving parents were shown in court.

Tyson, who has the word 'Savage' tattooed across his chest didn't show a flicker of emotion, slumping in his seat as he was forced to watch a montage of photos showing the victims from early childhood to young men.

Two close friends of the dead men who had attended the eight day trial in Sarasota, Florida. had also delivered highly emotional impact statements to the court prior to the sentencing.

Someone cannot be of Irish heritage without having been to Ireland?

when things become huge in media, there is a LARGER impact than when they are handled locally and JUSTLY through the court systems,,,

because there is NATIONAL and ONGOING attention to the fact that the killer in the Trayvon case still WALKING FREE< and because it has affected the NATIONAL population in a possibly divisive way for a President to speak up is responsible

in the case of the two brits the SYSTEM did handle it, the boy is convicted, the boy was arrested,,etc,,,there was no national divide for a President to interject himself into in that case


writing a letter to a PResident doesnt guarantee he will respond,,do they realize how many people write the President? This got the Presidents attention because it GAINED NATIONAL attention as a case of a killer walking free,,also unlike the case with the two brits

kids missing on the 7th, suspects began being arrested on the 9th

and all convicted,,,,,
