I will usually send a quick non-intrusive email asking if they are okay. I did that just the other day with a friend who deactivated. He's not on Facebook so I wanted to make sure everything was okay.

Usually it's just because a person has a lot going on in real life and they need to focus. Or something negative happened online and they need a break. But a quick email checking on someone is not disrespecting their privacy. If they don't want to talk they'll most likely say so in a polite way and you'll feel better knowing they are still there.

Yea I think privacy is important just sometimes think when someone acts out of character it might be a subtle way of saying "Hey is anyone paying attention?' With so many of us not kids anymore and living alone seems kind of cruel to just forget people. I suppose someone closer to then in real life should notice but sometimes they don't. Lot of invisisable people.

I agree. Which is why it's a good idea to check.

If it's someone I'm close to that disappears, I'll call them. If we usually just email, I'll send them an email and see if they're ok.

 I guess if someone feels like you are a good enough friend that they give you contact info outside of Mingle, then they aren't going to be offended if you use it to contact them to check in on them.

I'm not saying I'd be mad nosy and make it into a gossipy email, but I would definitely send them a quick "Hey, I noticed that you deactivated and just wanted to touch base to make sure all is well with you. Hope you're having a great day! :)" kind of email.

Someone you know who usualy uses the computer to be social, has a lot of on line friends. sends emails often; then just drops off line.

I would assume they got a life and were probably getting laid. But that's just me.
