Topic: How does it make you feel | |

I might have to come up to Ohio and see how many people will talk to me and how many people give me funny looks My aunt is from Alabama and Texas. She moved to VA with her girls and had a hard time adjusting. She's bubbly as it is it would depend on where in Ohio - if u were in southern Ohio near the river up through west central ohio - it's pretty rural except for cinci - and cinci is a southern town - like Kentucky southern - not sure how that 's different than texas but up by totage seems to me culturally to be more like the northeast - just my impression as a long time resident (lifer) They actually went somewhere in Maryland first then moved to Palmyra, Virginia. From what I hear....those states are very pretty. I love the colonial states because I have heard how pretty it is, especially in the fall |

I've been to OBX several times, I've noticed that too, but it does seem to be a laid back town, where you can go and enjoy the beach. They're beach towns, that's why. |

That's to be expected in my threads. :P mine too. I've moved more of mine into chit chat Any way....I do think it depends a lot on what part of the country you are from whether you are ok with it or not (in general) I have a friend in England and she said it's basically the same. She uses pet names where she is from (can't remember where) and in other parts of England, people don't say it. I wonder how many other countries are the same? |

I would be interested to know as well. |

Is it the same in your country? You know where in some areas people use those terms a lot, but in other areas they don't at all? |

It 's been too long since living in Germany and up near Quebec for me to really remember
as I recall we called each other by name usually in Germany - I don't remmeber the use of pet names there |

You know what I find interesting? There have been some who have completely overdone it with the cutesy names and I've politely said they can call me by my name, rather than those other names since we really don't know each other. They went from being friendly to very offended quickly.
Normally, I just don't say anything unless it's completely overdone. |

I lived in the Philippines when I was young and I would say it was like that too, but we lived on base so that doesn't really count and I was too young to learn Tagalog
