WHY AM I GETTING HIT WITH SO MANY SCAMMERS?
ARE THERE NO FILTERS ON THIS SITE. NO WHERE TO REPORT SAID SCAMMERS. YES I CAN BLOCK THEM, BUT THAT DOESN'T STOP THE REST. IT'S LIKE THEY ARE OUT IN FULL FORCE. THE LAST 6 GUYS I HAVE TALKED TO ARE ALL SCAMMERS. HOW DO I KNOW? 1. THEY ALL WANT YOU TO TRANSFER OVER TO YAHOO>CHAT VERY FAST. 2. ALMOST THE SAME DIALOG MESSAGE IS SENT...MOST ARE ENGINEERS...MOST ARE FROM A FOREIGN COUNTRY. MOST HAVE HORRIBLE SPELLING AND ENGLISH. MOST WANT TO KNOW A PERSON'S ENTIRE LIFE HISTORY. 3. MOST WANT TO LURE THE PERSON AWAY FROM THIS SITE AND OVER TO YAHOO...WHY THEY LIKE YAHOO SO MUCH, I'M NOT SURE. I HAVE TOLD THEM OFF BEFORE. BUT THIS LAST ONE I'M GOING TO FOLLOW TO THE END AND SEE WHAT HIS PLAN IS. I WANT TO KNOW EXACTLY HOW THEY ARE DOING IT. QUESTION: ANYBODY ELSE GETTING THIS PROBLEM? |

Hello eelrivergal, You can report suspected scammers by clicking 'report abuse/spam' on any email you have received from the person. You can also report them, by clicking 'report user' on the persons profile, or, you can use this form. http://mingle2.com/user/report_abuse (please be sure and include the user name). |

Just to add to Mark's reply, scammers are on many dating or social sites, unfortunately, so we just do the best that we can. We are aggressive in killing new scammer accounts, but we rely on our member base to fill in the gaps by reporting the ones we miss.
So, to sum up, you can report scammers through their profile, through any mail or nudge from that person, and finally by using the following form (ideal if the account has been deactivated by the owner). http://mingle2.com/user/report_abuse |

But Yahoo Chat is VERY un-secure. Give me five responses in a Yahoo Message, and I can hack your computer. Steal all your personal information, and, if I dig deep enough, I can probably even swipe your Identity. It's easier then people realize. Sure, your firewall will tell you there's a breech, but by the time you can actually react to it.. It's too late. Even if you shut off your PC immediately I'm already in. That's a major reason why they'd lure you over there. Plus, foreigners do it because it is far more difficult to track them down in a place outside the US. Just a heads up. Give me five IM's in Yahoo. Then you can take it up with your bank as to how all your money is suddenly gone.. Just saying... |

I'm having same problem with eelrivergal.
Many scammers approached me recently. 1 guy for a start, then they keep on coming! At first I didnt know he was a scammer, until my friend warned me. I searched more about scammers and found some photos of users who contacted me in mingle that are taken from other websites, so I am definitely sure that they are scammers! Been blocking n reporting these scammers to mingle, just like what Charles and markecephus suggested. Now reading sin_and _sorrow's post, I wonder about all the informations I have given to the scammer. He knows two of my email address, my phone number and my birth date. Is blocking a scammer in mingle and deleting his yahoo messenger enough measure? What else should I do? Please advice. Thank you. |

Anytime you suspect a scammer, please report them through the profile or email and the site will look into it and take appropriate actions.
We always advice to email or IM with each other on Mingle until you are comfortable to go off site to chat. Mingle offers the emails and IMs to help provide safety for our members. As far as yahoo...you can report someone to yahoo and block them. Good luck to all Kim Site Moderator |

Is blocking a scammer in mingle and deleting his yahoo messenger enough measure? What else should I do? Please advice. Thank you. Since he already has your e-mails at yahoo. And you think he may still pursue you. Two things I can suggest. 1. Change your emails/IM names. 2. Ignore ALL IM's from 'unknown' senders. As Yellowrose stated; reporting them to yahoo is a keen idea as well. Just be careful who you speak to on yahoo. It's easily infiltrated and its shown to be that way for years now. I know they are trying to improve that, but, it still rings true as of now; especially in cases where you download yahoo messenger to your system itself. You can also try using Meebo for outside messenging. Through meebo you can keep your yahoo messengers and log in through meebo to do so and its a lot more secure than yahoo itself. Hope that helps.
