Words have a deeper meaning even more than what we think.

I always recommend that people read the book:

Words That Hurt, Words That Heal: How to Choose Words Wisely and Well
by Joseph Telushkin

A book which really brings home the true power of words.

Really depends....

Some people are really good with words....others THINK that they are good with words when they actually ain't. (Just cause I know a buttload of words don't mean I gotta use em all to get my point across)

Some people use so few words that it actually hinders thier cause...Du u wana b fwb?

Some people do verbal overload and it all just becomes white noise to be ignored. (500 word sentences)

On the receiving end of words....

Most people can take it for what it is.

Others are delicate jungle orchids who get booty hurt over EVERYTHING (Whining drama queens)

Some people are just too dumb$$ed for actual meanings to sink in.

Some people over analyze and try to warp schitt to thier own perspective.

So...I just run my mouth like a fool and let the chips fall where they may.

I am really supportive when I can be.

I am visciously cruel when I need to be.

when I was younger....negative words were the strongest. I could have had the best day of my life but if something negative happens....I only remembered that.

I know many people are like this....but why? The positive should trump the negative (IMO)

I try to focus on the good things and not let the bad ruin my day.

Takes a lot of reprogramming to start thinking this way....it would be easier if people would stop trying to program subliminal messages. I;m tired of quacking like a duck whenever someone says hello laugh

I read a very interesting article on this. It might have been in the book Destructive Emotions. The author's argument was that our focus on the negative is programmed by evolution. Negativity, if it's reasonable and realistic, can have the benefit of making people plan for the worst. The cave people (what the heck is the right word, not Neanderthals, they weren't our ancestors) who ignored the fact they were living in the midst of sabertooth country were more likely to get eaten. So the worriers were the ones who survived and had descendants. You could account for a lot of things this way. Clothes--invented by people who thought it was too cold. Bridges--invented by people who weren't satisfied on their own side of the river. Et cetera.

As well as I can remember, that was the argument. I was fascinated because it was an explanation that had never occurred to me before.

This is a very famous quote and one of my favorites of all time:

“Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”

I found this on facebook

Words are containers for power. They have the power to hurt, the power to love, the power to encourage and the power to discourage. Be careful how you use them

Do you agree with this or not?

Why?

Words only have the power to do those things if you allow it.
