Topic: Ways to get back at the b.s. and bureaucracy | |
---|---|
This thread is for suggestions on how you might get back at all the b.s., red tape, and bureaucracy you have to deal with every day.
One of the things I like to do is when I deal with lawyers and the courts doing process service is if they send me papers to serve via email, I charge them .75 cents for each page I have to print like they do to me in the court house. ![]() I also refuse to give them my social security number for serving their stupid papers. If they don't like it I tell them to call the sheriff to do the service. ![]() ![]() I'm sure there are many much better ways to screw with b.s. Please help me. |

I heard this on CNN.
A couple kept getting notices from a bank about an overdue mortgage payment. Over and over again, threatening them. Trouble is, they had a paid-off mortgage. Replying did no good. So they got a judge to sign an order, got the Sheriff to deliver it to the bank. Removing all their furniture and desks as collateral until they settled the business. It was miraculously settled that very day. |

Charge them a "SURCHARGE" on top of the .75 per page. Oh about $1.50, if they ask tell em it's mandated by new rules and regulations instituted after the first of the year. You'll be surprised as to the fact they'll pay with no issue. Oh and be sure to raise the rates quite frequently in fact |

They were fully prepared to.
Somehow, the bank saw 'reason' first :-) |

Once I was headed out of town and I needed some money from my credit union. They were having computer problems and could not access my account on their computer.
Before computers business was done with a passbook that told how much money was in my account. They were still using the passbooks. I showed them my passbook and account number but they still would not give me my money. I asked for the manager. When the manager came out, I told him that I was going to call the police if I did not get my money. I was not willing to wait until they got their computer problems solved. They gave me my money but they acted like they were doing me a favor. I wished they would have refused so that I could have called the police and made a big scene. They don't like scenes. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

After thinking about your situation I recalled hearing the following and thought it apropos. Hey if you don't someone else will.
Back in 1970 the city took possession of an old abandoned bldg. downtown. The city immediately demolished it, grounds paved the grounds and installed a fence with an opening wide enough to accommodate 2 way traffic left in 1 side. Btw, the lot held 120 cars. Within a week: a toll collector, small shed, sign stating lot rules and fees appeared. The charge per vehicle started at $1.00/hr. discounted to $5.00/day with an additional discount if used for the week, resulting in a charge of $20.00 for weekly parking. All in cash I might add. As street parking was metered and the nearest available parking lot was 8 blocks away you can see where there was an advantage for everyone who worked downtown on a daily basis to use the lot. Things went along smoothly for the next 25 years, actually it was hard to imagine the rates never went up and the same smiling face never missing a day. To everyone's dismay, One morning there was no attendee to be found, nor for the remainder of the week. This raised concern with all, including the mayor and right down to the city's comptroller's office. THe Mayor began making inquiries...seemed the head of parks recreation and affairs dept. had no control over the lot, nor did DPW, Housing authority, finance, budget or maintenance. No one could account for the employee...in fact no one even knew his name...nor could anyone account for any of the collected parking fees. No one that is, except 1 person lounging on a beach in Cancun sipping Mai-Tai's. |

Just think how much someone could get away with given the disorganized governmental institutions all over where no one knows what the other person is doing. It is called compartmentalization. You could probably find some abandoned office or office building and open up a business and run it for a while without anyone noticing. I read where people who are having their homes foreclosed on are delaying the process as long as possible and can actually live in their home for up to three years before the sheriff actually is given authority to throw you out. |
