I first watched this only a month ago, but i know it off by heart almost. Very funny and a great pastiche of the old 1950s sci-fi movies. Does anyone else like it?

It is great. I also like the sequel- Shock Treatment.

The songs in the sequel are also fun thanks to Richard O'Brien who wrote the music for the original(and played Riff Raff of course)

I love Rocky Horror! Have never heard of Shock Treatment though.

I've been fortunate to attend a couple of showings in an old theater. we, the audience were allowed to participate. it was pretty great . I'm glad I was able to experience it. the glee rendition was is pretty good too.

loved it, it was much easier to find when I was in college than it is now though,,,

it was more of a ritual back then that the students went and participated in the screen dialogue and scenes,, unique and fun experience


would love more like it,,,

Wow, I am surprised not many people know about Shocktreatment. I have that on DVD it finally came out recently. I hsve the DVD, VHS and Sound Track. I would love to get RHPS and Shock Treatment in Bluray, which I doubt they make or will make.

Also they are talking about making a remake of RHPS but Richard O'Brien doesn't want to be involved. BTW did you see Dark City with Richard O'Brien?

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Rocky Horror and Shock Treatment get Blu-Ray releases, especially Rocky Horror as it's a very popular movie, besides flicks like Galaxina, The Crater Lake Monster, and Troll 2 have gotten the Blu-Ray treatment.

Richard O'Brien was also in the 1980 Flash Gordon, and wrote the songs for Return Of Captain Invincible.

In spite of pre-release hype (including a promotional TV special called The Rocky Horror Treatment), the film was both a critical and commercial failure when it was released only as a midnight movie on Halloween 1981. It never had a full general first-run release in theaters. It turned out, with its increased budget and box office failure, to be an even bigger flop than Rocky Horror's original general release in 1975.

The film currently holds a 40% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, though only five reviews were collected.

A few years later, O'Brien wrote another script intended as a direct sequel to the cult classic entitled Revenge of the Old Queen. Producer Michael White had hoped to begin work on the production and described the script as being "... in the same style as the other one. It has reflections of the past in it." As was the case with Shock Treatment, the plot of Revenge of the Old Queen is not completely congruent with the events of the prior movies. Both appear to be possible conclusions to the first film, relating less to one another. The new story features some of the original characters with most of the action taking place on the distant planet of Transsexual, Transylvania, identified in Rocky Horror Picture Show as the origin of Dr. Frank N. Furter, Riff Raff and Magenta. Janet Weiss arrives there with her illegitimate son (with Dr. Frank N. Furter), Sonny. According to the story, Brad became a bottomless go-go dancer in Las Vegas, and fell to his death from a trapeze. He was buried wearing a rhinestone choker and six inch high heels but nothing else.

The script takes its name from Frank-N-Furter's mother, the Old Queen, portraying the action detailed by the title against Riff-Raff for killing her son in the first film. Although the script has not been published, bootleg copies can be read on the Internet.

The script is currently owned by 20th Century Fox which produced the two original films. Most individuals associated with the project, including O'Brien, agree that the film will probably never be made, owing to the failure of Shock Treatment and the aging of the cast.

On the August 12, 2007 episode of "Rocky Radio", a fan run internet radio show, the original demo and opening song for Revenge of the Old Queen, "The Moon Drenched Shores of Transylvania" was broadcast.

MTV cancelled the Remake

MTV Films and Sky Movies were planning to remake The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The network was planning a two-hour-long remake to be based on the original screenplay and featuring songs not included in the original. The film was initially anticipated to have been released sometime around Halloween 2009. O'Brien was not involved; he has said that while he has no opinion on whether the film should be remade, the MTV production did not have his blessing. Later in 2008, MTV announced that there would be no remake.

One of the most musically sound rock operas out there! Try "The Who", Hedwig and the Angry Inch" "Jesus Crist Superstar". I think everyone knows about "Grease", but what about "Cry Baby?" John Waters, starring Johnny Depp, Iggy etc... Love the rock operas...Queen, "night at the Opera"...

I liked the sequel as much as I liked the first one. All though O'Brien didn't reprise Riff Raff he played Dr. Cosmo Mackenzie. Also the actresses that played Columbia and Magenta are in it and the guy who played Ralph resumed his role and the Criminologist played a different part as a judge, so it could be the same character.......

O'Brien was also in Dark City.

I read MTV backed out of doing a remake because O'Brien wouldn't give his blessing.
