Most Americans, I suspect, believe we’re losing manufacturing because we can’t compete againstcheap Chinese labor. But Germany has remained a manufacturing giant notwithstanding the rise of East Asia, making high-end products with aworkforce that is more unionized and better paid than ours. German exports came to $1.1 trillion in 2009 — roughly $125 billion more than we exported, though there are just 82 million Germans to our 310 million Americans. Germany’s yearly trade balance went from a deficit of $6 billion in 1998 to a surplus of $267 billion in 2008 — the same year the United States ran a trade deficit of $569 billion. Over those same 10 years, Germany’s annual growth rate per capita exceeded ours.

What right-wingers in the US don’t understand is that ‘socialism’ helps both the workers and small business owners… whereas ‘capitalism’ (as practiced in the US) helpsonly big businesses whilehurting both workers and small business owners.

Holy Moly, since when is that US-Corporatism called Capitalism!
and socialism, which is incidentally not any better than that Corporatism, which is incidentally also practiced in Germany,is just the backside of the same Statist-Coin!
Germany's day will soon come again!

and the high US-Corporate Tax isn't helping either!
Neither is the Double-Taxation!
Soviet-Socialism has really helped small Business!
NEP of Lenin!
Germany is one of the Nations growing fat off Europe right now!
And the Labor-Unions in the US haven't helped the Situation either, especially since the present Administration is sleeping with them!

If it works for Europe why not the US.

Germany is sure one serious Country. As I have said before...lost to world wars..country devastated..paid back all their debts and are now the Powerhouse of Europe and at the centre of one of the largest economic trading blocks on the planet...

Some people assume Americans work for a wage because they don't have the capital to do otherwise...Assume they work for a wage because they do not have free choice....It never occurs to them that many work for a wage because it is their choice, because it is what works best for them...

Which economic system is better?
Of course the German system is better, it provides a better life for the majority of its people.

The german worker has better pay, better health benefits more vacation and a better life than their american counterparts.

germany already has some problems. they're easing out of socialized medicine because it just plain doesn't work. there's really no more capatalistic country on the planet than germany when you get right down to it and the population is tiring of the high taxes. and america is hardly losing out on manufacturing. the tech industry, as an example, is going strong as is the biomedical industry and service based industries. the latest shale oil finds have made us the largest producer of natural gas in the world. in five years america will be stronger economically than ever.
