Would you communicate with someone who was critical or argumentative in their very first message to you?
thoughts? (BTW my policy on that is not going to change - if anything I might tighten it up some) |

Doesn't make a very good start, does it? I probably wouldn't because I don't need THAT in my life.

Probably not. That would remind me too much of work and I am home relaxing right now.

(BTW my policy on that is not going to change - if anything I might tighten it up some) That's an excellent question. I think it depends on the context. Almost all of my critical/argumentative e-mails come from women who want to tell me I'm wrong about not dating women with kids. I don't even answer those anymore -- there's no way to win an argument with a total stranger who gives zero credence to someone else's preferences -- they think they "know what's best" in any and every situation. Pffft. On the other hand, if it was an argumentative e-mail about something I had mentioned in the forums, for example, that I don't believe there ever was a Big Bang, I might entertain a dialogue. For awhile, anyway -- to see if the person had valid points to make, or if they just liked to argue. |

grrrr i dated a guy who argued with me on the first date..over his own lack of confidence. He was so worried about me judging him that he judged me in the process. We hashed it out, but I tried to tell myself he was probably just nervous. I see I was very wrong and he has an argumentative personality. So he's gone now
Anyways, i know it was in a message but they are who they are, and i would be weary of people who come off that way from the get go. I learned the hard way. |

I would think one would always put their best foot forward when meeting someone rather than being arguementive. |
