Everyone has their opinion and beliefs different from ours, however it does not mean that we have to take them personally. It is only up to ourself how we determine what the other person is saying. I find that some people only know how to be descriptive in communication if they are critical or argumentative, Just my thoughts.

Constructive criticism i'm fine with, but uneccesary negativity i don't need that in my life. As i'm quite a cheerful person.

what they say IS what they say- if it is negative or critical, it IS negative or critical. it's a dating site and a private message - of course I am going to take it personally

if it is at all negative I delete it - just seems a weird way to strike up a conversation

I suppose one exception would be the few times discussions from forum topics moved into PM - those I do not always take personally if they are not personal topics - and we simply do not always agree

I got a first message today from some guy telling me my profile was too long and boring. Then he told me I should read his profile, as it was real. I did write him back, asking why I should bother reading his profile after that. I'm betting I won't get a response.

no I don't take those comments as personal criticism but as idle curiousity and answer those who ask

No clue. Yes, some guys are really strange.

and WE seem to have the dubious luck of finding them....yay

I think many women here are unlucky as well at times.

It depends on the context, if they're making a good poing then i might adhere

I had a few who told me my (old) profile was too long.

I told them "You know that guy who's at your house, holding a gun to your head and forcing you to read my profile? You can tell him I said to go home now."

For sure I would.(till its bearable )

It could be a transfer aggression from whatever they're passing through at the moment, but i wouldn't take any offensive mail as a joke.

No I answer everyone back whether they were mean or whatever. But I hate getting the very first email from someone that doubts me. They question who I am. It seriously turns me off immediately! I answer but then leave it with a good luck on here to close it.. Then hopefully they get the hint and don't write back!

I don't think those people ever get the hint.
