I wondered if anyone else did this....like I don't mind guys a lot older than me. But when it comes to guys a lot younger than me, it's kind of like remembering where you were when Reagan was shot or the Challenger blew up. I kind of flash to myself who I was dating when they were born or what grade I was in and what song or movie was popular that year in junior high or whatever. It's totally not a judgment on anybody who dates up or down age wise because I definitely enjoy older men. I just wondered if other people did that.

My rule goes both ways. If one person in the relationship was still a child when the other was born its all fair and does not usually feel awkward.

However if you where dating people when that person was born . . . ugh that is tougher, and really does not appeal to me.

You are 40, I am 32, that would not creep me out in the least. At 8 years old you where hopefully not dating and thus we where both children at the same time.

It is tough to relate to people who are separated by much more then that, more power to those that can, but myself . .. naaa.

Im just not attracted to really younger guys(18-23). . . its too much like dating my son. Im 41 so Id have to say my rage would be about 27 to 55 with stronger preferance for ages 35 to 45 but im pretty open minded so nothing is set in stone.

I tend not to date men who are older than me. Would I? Perhaps, if we hit it off well. But even then, I probably would not go much older, as I'm just not attracted to much older men.

The youngest I've dated was 8 years younger. That's probably a bit much for me as well.

In August, I was chatted up by an attractive 32 yr old guy. He knew I was older but thought it was only by 6 year or so. When I told him my age (I’m 42), it didn't bother him. I did try..we were on the same training course, so spent a lot of time in each other's company. We had lunch together and he walked me to the station every day for four weeks but I just wasn't comfortable enough to date him.

I have also dated someone 10 years older and I wasn’t comfortable with that either..the moral of this story is that I don’t mind a few years either side but not more than about 5 years or so – this isn’t set in stone as it would depend on the person.

If a chick looks at an old vinyl record and asks, "Is that a big azz CD"?....Yeah....so not gonna date her.

I don't think about stuff like that, it's too regimented. If I like her, I like her, and it really doesn't matter who was president when she was born or how many space shuttles had blown up by the time she was in high school or whatever. It's about the person, not the historical backdrop.

I like lil older than me,I question lil bit more when its both younger and older. But I rather find out who they are what they bout before judging on there age..just don't like the damn games they like to play and not freakin real. Just cut the bs out.

I have to agree with lex. It is all about who the person is. You may have a younger person and have to potty train them but turn around and have someone the exact same age who is much more mature. However, it still comes down to personal preference. My parents are 20 years apart in age and were happy till the last breath.

I don't get it either. Especially grosses me out as a Mom of adult age sons.

But seems the more you fuss about it the worse it gets. I have begun to just chalk it up to 20Somthing Brain Farts they will grow out of and ignore them.

I know what you mean about the records. I do "exercise videos" of course I mean DVDs but somebody younger will go what?? I do my yoga on DVD and I say I do my "yoga videos" or I am watching my "videos" but I do own two DVD/VHS combons and one straight VHS because I am a nerd girl and will watch "Son In Law" on VHS as I fall asleep because Polly Shore (sp) was never meant for DVD.....

P.S. I had an uber nerd wet his pants that my car has a cassette player and the front seat is scattered with actual cassettes including The Police and AC/DC, etc. and I actually have The Club on my car. A non-nerd asked "Has your car ever been stolen?" I said, "No, that is the point".
