More than 700 people were arrested on the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday evening during a march by anti-Wall Street protesters who have been occupying a downtown Manhattan square for two weeks. The group, called Occupy Wall Street, has been protesting against the finance industry and other perceived social ills by camping out in Zuccotti park in New York. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2011/10/occupy-wall-street-protests-spread-across-the-country-bloomberg-calls-them-misguided/ The protests have spread across the country, with events popping up in Boston, Chicago and dozens of other cities across the country in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street.
In Albuquerque, N.M., there were more than 500 protestors, and demonstrators in Spokane, Wash., set up a tent city before police enforced a no-camping rule. A march and rally was held in Boston Friday called “Take Back Boston” run by the Right to the City alliance, a national organization that “seeks to create regional and national impacts in the fields of housing, human rights, urban land, community development, civic engagement, criminal justice, environmental justice, and more,” according to its website. Police estimated about 3,000 people attended the events Friday. “We are targeting Wall Street, in particular the big banks and corporations,” Rachel Laforest, the executive director of the Right to the City Alliance told ABC News. “The goal is to create a national narrative and have it be known how the states are taking state revenues that are being funneled to banks and corporations and then you layer on top of that the fact that they’re not obligated to pay their fair share of taxes, and so that’s billions and billions of dollars that could be put toward job creation and creating solutions to the housing crisis.” Today’s events in Boston will continue with a “Take Back the Block” festival. At least 1,500 have registered for the festival. Along with New York and Boston, an Occupy Chicago movement has emerged, with nearly 100 people gathering in front of the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank. The protests have been peaceful and no arrests have been reported. Occupy Los Angeles protests which have also been small in numbers, has called for a march today at 10 a.m. from Pershing Square downtown to City Hall. https://occupywallst.org/ Brooklyn Bridge Occupied Posted Oct. 1, 2011, 4:56 p.m. EST by OccupyWallSt Police have kettled the march on the Brooklyn Bridge and have begun arresting protesters. Well, hopefully the protestors can overwhelm the police peacefully by sheer press of numbers alone eventually! F the speculators. F the global exchange. and F the WORLD BANK! Indeed. I would hope that this thread finds all the 99% of Mingle in agreement with this movment. In this we are all united without regard to political labels, race, sex, ethnicity, age, or any other label - unless the label has to do with 99% of the people. |

How can we all united without regard to political labels, race, sex, ethnicity, age, or any other label, when the man who organized this is an admitted racist who has called for the downfall of our nation. Everyone in this protest is being used by the man in charge ,no different than right from left. Then in true leftist form u end ure post with unless it has to do with us... LOL Please tell me.... |

If you don't own stocks...
What do you care what the Wall Street people do? you have not vested interest. you won't get anything from this action. However... Someone will... and they tried it first by buying politicians and getting the laws changed. THAT DID NOT WORK... so they 'rally' the 'people'... and make claims of rightness... For what... Much bigger picture than the protesters know. (and reddy if you check you will find that the organizations you listed are all linked to the same donors)... can you say agenda. |

AGENDA Regardless of the fact this is the American Autumn modeled after the Arab spring started by politicaly motivated man Van Jones. Now the protesters are calling for the re election of a obamamoa, and The official Occupy Wall Street website vehemently supports Obama’s tax agenda http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFVR9Nv43J4&feature=player_embedded Also thought it was about the little man but now we begin to learn that along with Van jones George Soros, The Ruckus Society, the Tides Foundation and the Ford Foundation. Are all involved. the protesters are being completely misdirected by their socialist/communist leaders. The real center of financial control is the Federal Reserve and the city of London To get at the root of the problem, one should be protesting, say, in London’s City where central banking originated. Or protesting in front of the Federal Reserve in Washington DC. These are real seats of power. But the shadowy and excessively powerful and wealthy individuals who have created the modern economic system are quite satisfied no doubt to have Wall Street take the blame. It suits their purposes. It is too bad that the Occupy Wall Street movement seems to be obscuring the larger issues by apparently blaming the private (transactional) sector in entirety for what has occurred in the past few years Please tell me while these folks are protesting against the rich whom is feeding them and paying their bills.I mean they are not rich so they cants just have extra money...HHmmm could these be the same people asking for entitlements at the same time they are being supported by the rich. |

The Tides Foundation! Hey! I've heard of them! Glenn Beck broke that story wide open. (Doesn't seem to have caught on fire, exactly). If you don't own stocks...
What do you care what the Wall Street people do? I think that's because stock market crashes cause recessions and depressions. 2000 and 2007, for instance (not to mention 1929). The bigger the bubbles, the bigger the crashes. Not good for the country. That seems to me like a pretty good reason to care what happens on Wall Street |

First Wall Street, then the Federal Reserve. |

This "waste of time" protest just seems to be gaining steam. I think this is one way that movements are born, and I think this one could keep growing .
