I know you always have to be careful, but are there any pointers besides the obvious (asking for money. etc) if someone is a scammer. I've had a few emails where I've chatted but it seemed a little strange. I went with my gut, but just thought I'd see what you all had to say.

i have had some give a personal email in the first message they send, thats a good tip off and they get deleted without any response.

i think some put up pics of anything other then themselves.

if they don't use proper english and try to use large words that just don't fit.

i'm sure there are lots of other ways, those are the ones i have ran into so far.

They will always try to get you to mail them off site.

ie "please mail me at ____.com right away".

You should always trust your intuition. You can google their name and email. Look them up on facebook, or their email.
IF they immediately try to get you to go to a seperate messenger like yahoo- theres a pretty good chance. You can Im on this site (if you have it activated).
Just trust yourself and your feelings . If it doesn't seem quite right, there is usually a reason.
If it seems all too good to be true-- it probably is.

well beautiful lady, scammers like to pay compliments. dey also mispell ez words and use text spk. my poor sick grandmother says they also give sad stories about relatives. my rich uncle who has included me in his will says they could also try to impress you with money. one other tactic they use is to get you to email them at another site. mail me at hornymanatee@dome.com and i'll tell you more

Yep, bad english, asking for any type of personal info off the bat, telling you that you are in a position to inherit lots of money, or having you "register" anywhere in order to talk to them.
