Topic: government's 16 dollar muffins and 8 dollar coffee | |
---|---|
I think people get 'outraged' too easily these days. I mean, a coffee from the local starbucks is almost 5 dollars. Am I gonna be surprised or OUTRAGED at muffins which cost 15.. ? not really. And then some cookies and muffins are WORTH every penny of ten dollars, depending upon their ingredients and freshness and the work put into it. You can spend $600 of your own money on coffee and cookies if you want but when you're spending America's money there needs to be constraint, and that is something people in washington have no clue of. |

Apparently if we have citizens who cannot afford to buy a $16 muffin for themself, they will still have to buy one for a 'public servant'. if people re read the updated info, it wasnt 16 dollar muffins it was 16 dollars for muffins, drinks, fruit, AND The tax and gratuities (basically an all inclusive price for BREAKFAST) |

$16 per muffin @ 250 muffins, that's $4,000.00 for muffins alone.

I would have no problem if they chose to buy their own 10 dollah cookie, but my place of employment doesnt pay for my muffins, coffee, or cookies, because its not good business. I wonder why federal funds go to provide snacks of any kind, or perks of any kind, when the employees are given an income to support their living. Just like me. If my employer started buying me things, I would find it strange. Why is that not the same for government jobs? How bout they can use the vending machine, or snack bar in the lobby like the rest of us. Heck, I dont care if they buy a 100 dollar muffin or a 20 dollar bj. As long as its not funded by me. IM not sure which jobs anyone else is accustomed to, but I have worked office jobs for over 20 years, and my employers have indeed had CATERED Functions which they paid for and they have also given appreciation type gifts which included anything from nice watches to very costly edible arrangements. So its nothing new to me, perhaps thats why its hard for me to feel outrage. I dont think the piece said they offered such things at work, I do believe it was referring to a FUNCTION they were attending. office jobs is their money, that they earned... government is spending taxpayer money, something they should be accountable for... but with duh fuher in office, he ok's this extravaganza because he likes to get the nicest things on other people money... it's also been about a month now, he should be about ready to take a few weeks off to spend some more money(thats not his, i might add) |

Oh by the way looks like we lost if (big) IF Bin laden was the criminal mastermind behind 911 he certainly was gloating watching this country spend its treausure and blood in a country that had nothing at all to do with 911. We americans sure are stupid. |

Sorry...but the government spending THAT kind of money on coffee & muffins is just ALL KINDS of CrAzY in these times! Indeed! But that's how Washington works. $16 hammers, $200 toilet seats, etc. There is no such thing as cost control/containment when the government is spending money. |

Im a little surprised that my taxes are used for catered meals for people defending MY interests...just because they show up for work. Cushy. I wonder if they know what I have for breakfast, and whether or not I pay for it with my own money, or if someone I take care of bought it for me, while they collect food stamps. After all, I show up for work too. Do you understand what a 'conference' is? ITs not just showing up to work. ITs an organized schedule of events for the purpose of informing or educating its guests and making information universally available to guests who may otherwise not all be on the same page about the details of their business or their profits or the newest policies,,,etc,,,. It usually requires some or most guests to travel, or reschedule their personal time to attend,,, |
