Is the United States ready for major earthquakes of 7.0 or higher?
Would you trust the government to provide enough relief? Would you be prepared if a quakes hits your area today? Seismic Monitor - take a peak at what goes on.... http://www.iris.edu/seismon/ |

i checked out that seismic monitor site and they need to update around indiana, about a year ago there was one along the new madrid fault line that is close to where i live, i thought a semi missed the curve and was going through the front yard, dogs were going nuts!
it's not showing the one over by the east coast that happened recently either. |

Many people are not aware of it's existence. Strange the east coast earthquakes did show on the seismic site recently... I say West virgina,,,,,Pa,,and Ohio,,willbe the next one close to the med west,,,as for major and bad,,,,washington State..within six months,,and ITS not even showing here,,,so,,,who would ever think,,right?...
I wonder,,,if anyone has ever rationally thought of,,,OIL in Mother Earth,,that Never evaporates much at all,,,and as we have taken so much from her for our needs,,,but ever THINK,,,THAT IT may act as a temperture control process keeping the earths heat contained ,,,like anti freeze in our cars....and when ours gets low,,,we add more to it,,right? Well,,we CAN'T add more to her levels,,,so SHE LETS US KNOW,,,she's running LOW,,in many areas now,,,,Something to think about,,huh? |

NO of course not, that is why they tell US to be SELF PREPARED for any disasters. Stock up on WATER. Stock up on CAN GOODS, HAVE your own FIRST AIDE set up. WE have all that in our garage. Hopefully we get to it in a major quake.
PS> We had a 3.5 at 256am this morning. It was centered in Newport Beach, CA. It jerked me out of bed, real quick. |

Then there was the massive power outage last week in San Diego, another earthquake in Santa Clarita (about 30 miles south of me) and Saturday we had a huge freak storm here in the Antelope Valley that caused flooding and mud damage. |

New Madrid fault zone For years and years they could not figure out why this area would be prone to earthquakes. Science did not fit. Then someone discovered that when the earth's plates move, in waters off the east coast, the shock wave travels inland, and finally manifests at the New Madrid. I found that very enlightenoing. |

interesting... i have heard that when we get one it'll be more violent then other places just because the ground is harder or the sandstone around here? guess the ground doesn't want to move as easy?
i must have been looking at the seismec site wrong then if it showed the east coast one recently. |

The fat cats don't want to acknowledge the possible damage fracking the ground does to get out the natural gas, not to mention pumping the poisons back down into the ground afterwards. |

Something you guys might want to check into...
Two of our last Earthquakes registered identical to explosions based on the analysis of seismic data. Google is your friend. Hint: One was near D.C. FWIW |

Seismic Monitor - take a peak at what goes on.... http://www.iris.edu/seismon/ I couldn't tell you but it is likely based on world events lately. Look at the gov'ts track record for your answer. Katrina, BP, anyone? I'm about as prepared as I can be. |

I found that very enlightenoing. correct interesting however - living here in central and west central ohio I have felt nothing recently at all in terms of tremors - the last one in Va - didn't even know about until the day after - even tho it was in the east we were supposed to be affected but we were not. I can vaguely remember some brief tremors 15-20 yrs ago when I lived in west central Ohio (I am in Central Ohio now)- that's it tho - nothing I felt more in terms of noticeable tremors years ago growing up in Pa. New Madrid is a stone's throw away & quiet and peaceful - at least we don't here anything from it here. Indiana is so close that if anything major happened we'd know about it, I mean I could have forgotten about something - I really don;t pay that much attention to it anyway |

i read that after the last big one here at the new madrid fault, a university set up a monitor and it's been going off a lot but they are very little ones that you can't feel but the monitor's pick it up. just a matter of time i guess, the earth is alive and she's getting restless
