Do you have Javelinas in Texas...Think thats how you spell it. Does anybody from here live in south Texas? I saw them last night on TV and heard they are really powerful and extremely dangerous. Thats not what Billy the Exterminator said...would he lie? Yes, as he probably never saw one in real life in his life! yes..he trapping them and one broke lose of his trap. So he started pulling them by their feet. what kind of traps...and why was he trapping them to start with...they're protected in Texas. He was in Arizona I think.they were near a school and he said they could hurt a child. With the droughts I'm not surprised that wild animals are coming in to towns..for water and hopefully something to eat..but not people...I'd be more worried of the big cats and the occasional black bear.. |

Maybe I should say there is a limit on them...you're allowed to kill 7 a year. |

I guess the times are a changing...I know personally some men that went to jail shooting them on a weekend fishing trip to the Rio Grande River..The would ride around down there on the river and shoot any that they saw...Parks and Wildlife got them..and they spent the night in jail and had to pay a hefty fine. |

Not looking forward to the storm this weekend. We do not need anymore rain. The ground is saturated now so it means lots of flooding for the East Coast.

I sure hope you are right. I have family and friends who have homes on the Jersey shore so I am saying my prayers that their homes come through this OK

I was having a discussion at FEMA a few years ago about 'what would happen' if a storm would take the track this one is taking. I told them that a surprising amount of damage would occur due to the fact that storm of this magnitude are so infrequent on the East coast.
The storms on the Gulf Coast tend to weed out the weaker structures every ten years or so. You are going to see a lot of damage. |

We'll have to keep everyone in our prayers that it's not as bad as everyone thinks it may be.

We'll have to keep everyone in our prayers that it's not as bad as everyone thinks it may be. It is mediocre as hurricanes go but it's going to hit areas where the housing has never seen one so the damage will be high. It has more to do with the housing density than anything else. Some building code requirements (like not using staples to attach roof shingles) may be a big issue. |

the biggest actual problem will probably be loss of electricity. Gas pumps won't work. Air conditioners won't work. Water supply pumps won't work. Traffic lights won't work.
If you haven't experienced one, it is not what one would think. The grocery stores are empty. The restaurants are closed. |

Lumber needs more than screws and nails to hold..those little metal clips, don't look like much, but when used on all studs...they work. Hopefully the ones who didn't evacuate will have stached plenty of supplies, medicines and water. |
