10 to 1 you will see the argument that,'It will never happen here.'

Honor killings are not unknown in the USA, they are in fact on the rise.

You mean like when the KKK kills a white woman for marrying a black man?

Or I, a Jewess, has to be very careful and cover my tattoos in certain areas of America lest I be dragged in the street by white supremists?

Or how my synagogue has to be surrounded by police officers and SWAT on our holiest of Holy Days due to the fact that I live in the Bible Belt and we have had threats to our community several times?

Yep....

It happens here.

I love that mothers can force their daughters to have abortions. Or that fathers can rape their daughters and get away with it in certain communities. Or that men can have several wives... (Mormons, HELLO!)

I love how CHRISTIANS came here on a friggin BOAT and killed all the natives.

Yep...

It happens here.

I love how there are gang wars and I can be shot for being in the wrong place at the wrong time because Joe Blow decided he wanted to kill someone else for wearing red.

Yep...

It happens here.

I love how we can condemn and kill a person (death penalty) and then find out years later that person was ACTUALLY INNOCENT!!!

Yep...

IT HAPPENS HERE.

Or wait.... even better......

I LOVE how our King (President) dictates how WE LIVE, what we PAY TO LIVE, and what benefits we are ALLOWED TO HAVE.

And if we don't like it?

Who cares?

Right?

No, I was actually talking about the fathers who kill their wives or daughters in order to preserve their "honor". You just seem to have a list of bull**** and exceptions.

You are marrying a Saudi and you are complaining about polygamy that isn't even legal in the USA anyways? A Saudi? Saudi Arabia is known for polygamy and sex slaves!

In all seriousness, you should think long and hard before you move to Saudi Arabia. I think you are getting in way over your head.

You sir, are a waste of air. Your mother should have swallowed.

Ignorance is not becoming on you. Makes you even uglier.

It's a pity that media has corrupted you. But then again, sheeple tend to be quite ignorant and easy to brain-wash.

i agree with her, the jews are persecuted from all sides around here... just look at all the attacks on here from people that hate jews for no reason, i see it all over the web. even the leader of the KKK was a vivid jew hater, and took league with the muslims, something which i will never understand...christians are just as bad as the muslims when it comes to hate, altho they do it in more underlying ways....

Well, the Police and SWAT won't have to surround your Synagogue in Saudi Arabia...mainly because there aren't any Synagogues in Saudi Arabia. But I'm sure you'll be very welcome as a "Jewess" in a country that doesn't allow any house of worship other than Muslim.

Jews are, without a doubt, subjected to hate crimes in the USA. But you would be hard pressed to find a country where Jews are treated better aside from Israel.

Considering b'tzelem Elokim, how well do the other Jews accept your tattoos? I'm asking in sincere curiosity, since reform and conservative Jews all consider it a sin?

You sound just like all of the women I've dated.

Your mother should have swallowed.

Dorothy Mantooth is a saint! You understand me? Dorothy Mantooth is a saint!

Ignorance is not becoming on you. Makes you even uglier.

I'll admit that's not easy.

It's a pity that media has corrupted you. But then again, sheeple tend to be quite ignorant and easy to brain-wash.

Why is it a pity that I've been "corrupted"? You have made it clear that I'm ugly, ignorant and should never have been born.

Which gets to MsHarmonys comment. If there is only One God it is
logically the same God for everyone. But of course it makes no
difference what you call God - Jesus, Buddha, Allah, Yahweh or
Redd Foxx and it certainly makes no sense to attempt to describe
God in anthropomorphic terms. Although if you wish to picture him
as an Asian 3 month old girl then it is fine. And God doesn't care
whether you "believe" in One God or faeries either. God has made me
come to realize this all on my own - but I do not claim to be a
prophet.

I understand and agree with the point that violence happens here on multiple levels and with multiple types of bigotry

but I do want to clear up that (for now) polygamy is not recognized by our government

once it is recognized though (and IM sure it will be), it will have to be EQUALLY applied so that women will also be able to have multiple husbands

and the President doesnt actually dictate anything,,,,,the laws are written and by congress and interpreted by the courts,, the President just signs off on them(or not)

Is there any difference between violence committed by a stranger to a stranger and violence in families?

only to the degree that the perpetrator will continue to be a part of that persons life....

but pain and injury are the same whether punched by a stranger or a spouse

the emotional trauma involved if one HAS to continue associating with their perpetrator is the only significant difference I see,,

Actually having been molested by a family member in my lifetime, the factor of trust makes the "closeness" of the perpetrator a factor of more violation then from a stranger.

from the perspective of victim, no

from the perspective of perpetrator, and a jury,, yes

there is an intent in one and not the other, but they both end in innocent lives being taken

there is an ASSUMPTION of relationship/caring in one , and not the other so the latter may make it easier for the perpetrator to 'disregard'

,,, In my eyes, they are both equally terrible, but if one was not intended to kill a child, I can have more apathy for the perpetrator most likely

I think being murdered by your own father would be worse than a stranger.

By virture of the term 'mono' ALL monotheistic religions are intolerable, sometimes even among those who claim the same label. How can they be otherwise?

The idea that any one is worse than another may only be a matter of what one has grown accustom to.

I agree. I will go further to argue that 'intolerable' is a fairly vague term devoid of any positive or negative absolute.

as humans we all have some things we cannot 'tolerate' , which makes us 'intolerant' to some things

the bible and our laws are examples of what a culture will not 'tolerate as well as what it will,,

Yes - WELL that and one other little thing. Each monotheistic religion has a singular god. When there is a singular god with very specific characteristics and attributes and a set of rules bestowed by the god, then we have the conditions of "my god is the one and only 'right' god.

Thus the claim "all monotheisitc religions are intolerable, they do not tolerate the god of any other religion.

I thought monotheistic merely designated the number of Gods,, not which God

that is to say, If I believe in GOD, and someone else believes in ALLAH,,, it is not impossible for me to consider they are one in the same

just as some call me by one name (my first) and others by my middle, yet they refer to the same individual...

People certainly can assume that any single godhead is really the same godhead that every worships. The real problem is that every religion's godhead does not seem to agree with every other godhead.

Some people might say that individual interpretation and understanding is the problem, but rarely is that thought considered to be the fault of the person thinking it. laugh

Thus, again, we come to intolerance.

I think once IM dead, it really wouldnt matter who killed me

perhaps during the act, it would be hurtful to realize someone I loved was capable of such a thing

but dead is dead,
