Ya want honesty hummm? Well honestly it is not something I would listen to. But before anyone says anything I'm more into Country or Softer Classic Rock... To me any song that says the same thing over and over regardless if it is Country or what it is gets on my nerves...and I tend to turn it off. The song does make a point as far as self defense goes. And could be used to advertise Self Defense. But then as some said hell after listening to it kind of makes ya want to go out and kick some arse... OK here we go......... Ill beat you down down down with the end of my stick!! Ill beat you down down down with the end of my stick!! Ill beat you down down down with the end of my stick!! Ill beat you down down down with the end of my stick!! Ill beat you down down down with the end of my stick!! Ill beat you down down down with the end of my stick!! NOW youve heard it over and over!!! Im sorry, I couldnt resist! Im not sure im so happy about this song making all of you women want to beat someones arse...BUT GO FOR IT!! *Runs to his hidden underground fortress* Go on and run, you sissy!! You gotta come out sometime! Says who?!?! I can have food, beer and smokes delivered. I have enough money to where I don't HAVE to work quite a while and I have enough ammo to fight off intruders for a while. MUHUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Oh really?? Give me some money then!!Moneybags!! Hey now.....I already told you that I'm not a sugar daddy.... However, if you pay for all the parts I'll build you a b1tchen ride. I want your money thats what I want Thats what I want thats what I want Thats what I waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaant thats what I want -by Barett Strong |

OK. This is the critical me here: Brutal honesty time.
First of all I would like to qualify this by saying that not everyone can make a video let alone do a decent job of it. The fact you did this (and since no one is an island and I bet several people were involved with the making of this) speaks volumes. It wasn't bad per say. It was a kick azz effort. I personally would have mixed the music in louder with the singing. Considering this is a hard core 'chicks kicking azz' video it should musically been a little more dirty and more punch in the music itself. There was nothing wrong with the song per say. It fell a little short of me grabbing a goalie mask, a chain saw, and running into a crowd of armed gang bangers to make whole scale war! Now where do I meet a girl who can kick azz like that. That is the one part of the video that got me all steamed up and I had to de-fog my glasses! With some polishing this video has possibilities. Also with some video editing you should make some of the footage look like security camera footage! Then this video would be really raw and unrelenting! Just like a quality woman! |

Quite intense stuff to say the least, made me put on a cup lol.
At first I thought the voice was a bit rough to be honest, but looking at it again, I'd guess you were going for that edge a bit more yeah? |

Then this video would be really raw and unrelenting! Just like a quality woman! Interesting idea! I thought the video part of it sucked (yes, she already knows my opinion on this). I thought it was cheesy and lacked in creativity (the person who put it together I know could do better, so I was even more than unimpressed). To me, just seemed like random acts of guys getting beat up. No story line or any thought put to it. Basicly like the clips you see on America's Funniest Home Videos of guys getting hit in the junk all streamed together. Reediting into something like you mentioned might not be bad with a little more added to it. |

Hey, I liked it a lot .. very "indy". I agree with the poster who said it would sound great played live. Love the visuals too; it makes me want to learn Krav Maga, the Israeli form of self defense that Jennifer Lopez' character in "Enough" used.
I'd like to add that my ex is a video editor and I used to work with him. We even made music videos and there are a lot of them that have superb music but the video is boring, boring, boring. In my opinion, the video part is rough, with an edge to it like the music. It fits perfectly and is not boring at all. I watched it with my 17 yo daughter and she said, "The music's okay but I really liked watching the dudes get the crap beaten out of them by women." |

This is what I looked like, when we did the video, so I chose to not be in it.... but than one month later, I did do a video totally bald, called,"Twisted". Go figure! If you would like to see that, just type into your search bar.... SecretEnterprise.com "Twisted" or "Twisted Video". |

Hey Roberta - you know I think you rock! You asked for honesty and I will honour you with that. I'd expect the same with my art.
First I think that the song is catchy and has some great potential. Much like a painting that has been overworked or underworked, however, it feels a little unfinished particularly in the chorus where the voice layers mingle. It feels messy sometimes and it is only my opinion of course but I felt like the last section of the song was too predictable...it didn't work for me. The video was just way to literal for my liking. Part of me was hoping you'd go for a multi-layered thing -like vignettes of a myriad of ways of rising up against attack... sometimes we are defending and going on the offensive against others - which is what the whole video is about but sometimes - as you well know - we are defending and going on attack against something ... like cancer - and it becomes about mustering resources sometimes we are lost in self loathing and beat ourselves up ... like the young girl battling anorexia and bulemia who incessantly attacks her own reflection - beating herself up with her own stick. Or conversely - pushing through it and finally standing up to the bully in the mirror. I love the idea of the song. I love the empowerment, I love the direction you went melodically. It was okay for me but I think you have it in you to be more than this shows. And I think this song has much more potential in it than has been explored so far. Rock on sistah! |
