But I want to get as many opinions as I can on it, before it does. Its my latest song and video called,"End of Stick". In what way is this your video? You sang, acted, performed, produced, cameraed, edited, what? For the criticism, I loved it. I never saw the movie that others see in it. It stands on its own. It is energetic, it sends a social message with a punch. The girls look awesome, sorry, that was the best part in the video. The guys got overpowered for two reasons: despite their advantage in raw physical strength, and despite their reasonable good standing in the martial arts scene, most guys lose the power and the will to hurt a gurl. It just does not sit well for the guy. A lot of men will take physical abuse from their wives, because contrary to all reasonable clues read, they love their wives. It is HARD to beat up a woman, whom you love or whom you like, or who is really good looking, even if you, the man, is a beefcake. The second most important reason the guys were fought off and beaten up so successfully is that the script called for that. -------- Other thoughts? I was thinking, these girls had been dressed in gym outifts, with hair tied back. In a chrinolin-skirt, a waist-reducing corsette, and with a Louis the XIV-style ladies hairdo, which reached from the entrance to the third floor windows, it would be harder. Then I thought of Gitta von Streibenseinder, who was an infamous courtisan in King Leopold's court; she strangled men using the wires in her skirt. She fell, a man would rush to help her up, she started to kick and scream, and she had perfected a way to weavet he wires around the man's neck and tighten them with her legs, feet, and toes. She had a 1.000 eye-batting average. Then there was Princess Di Chi Si Li Mung the Menally Deranged, in the Foo dinasty of China, who beat up every man in the Empire who had sent her a love note. In her memory her grandchildren established a fund to set up a lobby to get caning be intrduced as a modern Olympic sport. We would be watching people being tied to a bench and cruelly beaten with a cane in the Olympics, but luckily Mao Ce Tung beat the Emperor's armies, and Princess Di was beaten to death by caning on her own caning bench, by her own caning henchmen. Then they were beaten to death by the widows of the victims of Princess Di. Then these widows were caned to death by Mao's chief sexual advisors. Then they were beaten to death by caning. The chain is still going on, but the population explosion in China easily surpasses its diminitive value. Much like China doubles its population every forty years, ever since the "one- or max two-children" rule has been introduced. Before the rule, when any amount of children were allowed to a couple, the population doubled every 240 years. This is giving western mathematicians a headache, which is so bad, as if their heads were beaten by bamboo sticks. Meanwhile, back to the topic. Despite her towering and very impressively elaborate hairdo, Marie Antoinette witnessed more beheadings of men by guilotine than any Samurai warrior in the same era. Don't let a lady's birthmark fool you. And Helga, the She-Woof of the SS, had had her ways with prisoners in which most people after a night of debauchery could fit in a wineglass, whatever was left of them. Cheers!! |

Cheers!! but you gotta love hard rocknroll to love that song. It definitely is not a love ballad. All my love, is in my book of poetry, that got published last year, called "Thoughts from Within. Many of them are in my profile as well. Thanks wux, I liked the review, very informative also! |

In answer to your questions, I wrote and sang the song. And I really liked it when you said,"it sends a social message, with a punch", that was the whole idea of what I wanted my video to do, as well as to be good to listen to.... but you gotta love hard rocknroll to love that song. It definitely is not a love ballad. All my love, is in my book of poetry, that got published last year, called "Thoughts from Within. Many of them are in my profile as well. Thanks wux, I liked the review, very informative also! You fooled me. I thought a black chick was singing. I was thinking at the time of writing the response, to write "it sends a social message, with a punch and a kick", but I saved the "with a kick" for later, and eventually I never used it. I am old, but I like rock and rollo, and even RAP and hip hop. I like black music, despite being off-white in my skin color. My best friend is a black man from Ethiopia. He's a real gentleman and a scholar. But I suspect that E-s don't consider themselves Africans, much like Argentinians don't consider themselves Latin Americans. It's a funny world they live in. So... I liked the song, as much as the next door neighbour's pre-teens potentially can like it. I liked the singer, and her voice. Someone said earlier the voice needed post-production work. I deny that. I think it sounds great. But I am only one man, and I don't have money to spend on records, so you'd better listen to the advocats who say you must put it through filters. What I liked about the singers voice, and style of singing, was its rawness. There is a lot f charm in raw. More than in a refined voice. A raw voice is a young voice, a voice of a person who has not learned to bridle her voice, feelings, passions. It went well with the visual theme as well. Very well. A classic opera singer could not jive with the scenes in that video, despite the interesting fact that most operas have a similar line of play or storyline, with the music of the opera. And within the music and along with the music. I'll send you now a short note on two singers as an example of why raw is good. Janis Joplin will not be one of the two. |

Thank you for liking my voice, its not for everyone, or the faint at heart. I just belt out what I feel, never really pay much attenion to how I sound till the song is done, and I hear it.My goal is to sing, as well as the band plays, and they are AWESOME!!! |

The vocals are screechy, they sound sharper than the instruments. The front-end intro sounds entirely too off from the rest of the song, electronica straight into a punk riff sounds horrible, honestly. The chorus part "I'll beat you down, (etc.)" softens the rest of the song, depending if you wanted a more hardcore or even just a harder sound, soft it works but it doesn't work well with the music since it is more hardcore and fast paced.
If you could get some vocal balance, or even tweak around with waves on an editor to balance the music and vocals you would be a lot better off as a whole with this song. |

I am kind of in the middle on this. On one hand I like the fact that you had something to say, but I am a bit confused about what that was. At the end there is a “stop domestic violence” sign, but what I watched was not what I would term domestic violence. It seemed more to me like attempted robberies or even possible sexual assaults. There is a much less random selection when it comes to domestic offenses.
The song itself is not bad, but I would have liked it more if the instrumental part was not over shadowed by the vocals. (Almost drowned out at times.) Perhaps that is a result of listening to it on my laptop and not through full speakers. I don’t mean for this to sound negative, I am a huge fan of creativity in all forms. I admire anyone who puts themselves out there for all the world to see. Some will like it, some will not, but we mustn’t stop. Expression and the exchange of ideas is what makes us grow as humans. Without it I’m afraid we will be destined to go the way of the dinosaur. (Which for some, might be just what should happen…lol.) Keep it coming and do keep sharing. |

Not bad, could be used in a Rob Zombie or Tarantino movie

"Stop domestic violence".....well, if that chick can kick your arse, would you think about laying a hand on her? You make a good point there about the vocals drowning everything out. I've only ever listened to the song through equipment that can handle the range (usually CV DX9's and an amp more than worthy of pushing them) and sounds ok. So, I tried listening through a few different speakers that were laying around within arms reach. 1. The factory Dell laptop speakers. 2. Altec headphones. 3. ANCIENT full sized Koss headphones. Turns out, I know where you're coming from. The 15" CV's had no problem reproducing the low end (which there is plenty of). The small headphone and laptop speakers are too small to handle sound that low efficiently, so the vocals really drown out all but cymbals and lead guitar. Detuned bass drum, forget about it. It's right in the sweet spot for my 15"s, but you can hardly notice it with the other speakers. All in all, the curve could probably be flattened a smidge to bring down the high end and bring up the low end to assume that most people are listening through a computer (that favors high end). Rhythm guitar track could possibly be brought up a little as well to add to the mid range and a few other small adjustments with the mixer (Let's blame Robbi. It was his turn to babysit. ). Personally, I think the song rocks. It could just use a little post-production tweeking to suit the masses. |

That was my idea. I wanted it to sound really kinda cheesy
at the beginning, as if to fool everyone, and then have it take a complete 180 degree turn, and start rockin. Maybe not the best decission, but I like it that way. Its like at first you think,"wtf is this dorky song, this aint rock", and then it way lays you all of the sudden, when it instantly starts rockin. |

The front-end intro sounds entirely too off from the rest of the song, electronica straight into a punk riff sounds horrible, honestly.
It's really just a personal gripe, personally I don't really like a mix of electronica-sound with anything hard. Really, like I said in my reply, if you could balance the tune of the voice over the instruments the song would sound pretty ****in' wicked...As it is, in my opinion, the vocals and instruments are off tune wise. |
