Topic: a matter of weed | |
---|---|
I didn't want to bring this up on a different thread cause I think that the person there may need some help and not a debate thrown in front of him, but I'd like to address (not the first time I'm sure) the issue of weed.
I know tons of people love it and if someone wants to party that is totally cool with me, however saying that weed is not a dangerous drug is not the case. Weed is without a doubt an hallucinogenic. I can not get near the stuff, not even a contact high. It sends me in to a complete panic mode and I've seen a ton of other people have the same reaction. When I was a teenager I tripped off of pot more than I did when I took LSD. If it ever is legalized and not prescribed and monitored we will have a real mess on our hands. We have a bad enough alcohol problem and this could send us over the edge easily. This is just my opinion folks but I rank alcohol and drugs right up there with any other mental illness. I'm not talking about drinking or getting high I'm talking about the real problems that people develop with these highly addictive drugs. A side note. I think they should call mental illness "brain disease" cause that is really what it is. Drug addiction is more of a mental illness. Bare with me on this one. Wouldn't you rather get high from pure juices, oxygen and things that boast you instead of things that poison you? Again moderation is totally cool, but it doesn't take long before our bodies get hooked on poisons. The nature argument is a great one, but the brain dead people walking around is another thing to look at. I do agree that some creative types work better with weed, but even they will tell you that this is because it narrows your thinking by numbing the OD so that you can focus on the ID. I will except your cards and letters now. |

It will never be legalized. The government makes to much money from it. Lol...does that make me sound like a conspiracy theorist?
I don't think its any worse than alcohol. It affects people differently. Just as it makes you hallucinate, it makes others feel good and relaxed and stress free. Alcohol is the same way. Some people get stupid and crazy off it and some have a good time with no drama. I the only thing I think legalising it would do would be keeping less people out of the courts and in jail. I don't think there are very many people out there not using it because its illegal. I think that most people who don't use it choose not to the same way they choose not to drink. Really though...I don't smoke weed. Never have. I don't smoke anything. I do drink on a occasion. So I really don't have an issue with it...legal or not. |

Your correct, this is not the first thread where weed is the topic.
It isn't just that tons of people love it, tons of people are using it as medicine, legally. A safe bet that those of us who use it for medicinal purposes are not hallucinating on it. I know a few who have the same reaction you do, many more that don't. I took LSD once and hated the way I felt, I never did it again. So the chemicals have different affects on us. If all who use weed are hallucinating then I would agree that surely we would go over the edge (especially the region I live in, everyones uses it) however, is not the case. I agree that alcohol and drug abuse are a brain disease, some have addictive personalities. I just don't agree that ganja is a dangerous addictive drug. I know some truly mentally ill people who do much better on pot, alcohol is their poison...and some really up tight like a sphincter peopleoids who SHOULD use pot..should be mandatory!! As far as the nature, natural argument....the people I know who walk around 'brain dead' are those who are so over medicated with legal prescriptions that their like robots. We see this legal, more safe way that has man made chemicals floating around in our brains constantly. Heck, there's even food out there for those who can't or don't want to inhale anything into their lungs. Wanna get high? Here's a chocolate chip cookie...maybe the cookies would get addicting. A better choice than what comes out of big pharma. When using ganja there is no reason for ambien and other addictive and dangerous sleeping pills, or valium, xanax and other addictive anti-anxiety pills, or oxycodone and other dangerous addictive opiates. The effects of the ganga gives relief to symptoms these drugs are used for. The risks of using ganja that is grown in a garage by those I know, who grow it legally....are, by far much less than using a variety of pills. So for me, it is the natural choice. |

I was hoping that I could make myself clear the first time around, but in case. I do agree with the thoughts being said. I do agree with med-reaf, I think we should grow it as a crop and use it to replace many "bad for you" poisons being sold as medicine. Let me be very clear here for anyone not getting my point. Pot has some great benefits! For those smoking while reading this. Take it in, relax, smoke a dubbie, I'm on your side. Here's what the deal is. You will not see me defend poison in any way outside of moderation. We as a society have been taking in poisons and these poisons have been creating physical and mental problems on a big scale. This is not a minor issue. This is a big scale deal.
If we start using pot as a feel good treatment I'm all for that. If we start making cases for it like we do cigarettes, caffeine, Xanax and a ton of other harmful (when used wrong) drugs I'm totally against it. We as a nation have a tendency to not be responsible when it comes to addiction and we as a nation can either bury our friends when it is too late or start thinking about the things that are killing us. Our prisons are full, our hospitals are full and our addiction clinics are full. Do we continue spending our money making more of these or do we start fixing the problems? Let me bring it up again for those who already forgot what they were reading (had to throw that in). I'm talking about the harmful addictive side to pot or any drug that takes away from life and not adding to life. Our economy is crushed and a big part of that is how we have handle regulating ourselves. We create major problems that we don't think all the way through because we focus on self wants and then we do nothing but complain when we kill off a generation or two all because of something we put in a bottle, a can, a cup or a pack. Our bodies can only take in so much poison. We can laugh about it and maybe should sometimes but at the same time we better take it serious or it will be our turn or our children's turn on the death bed. |

I very strongly feel that big pharma is only in it for the money... the more addicts there are, the more money being made. Legal prescriptions, I feel are much more dangerous and addictive than the weed. We have a HUGE problem in our country with drugs..I hate them!! Is why I use med-reef instead. What moderation is, is going to vary I would think. I'm a daily user of the med-reef. I do physical work, all day... it hurts my body, I'm not a spring chicken anymore. After work I use. How much I use depends on how I feel. To some, daily use may seem like too much, to others it wouldn't. |

Some how (and I don't know how) we need to go back to nature fixes without them being a party hang out. For example I think that pot could be prescribed and sold at health food pharmacies. I don't know about the addiction comment only cause I'm in a town that is full of pot addicts along with many other types. I honestly have not met a pot smoker that was not some what of an addict so I wouldn't be able to make a fair judgment on that (I have lived with a med-reef patient BTW just last year). That said pharmaceuticals are extremely scary to me and I could not see myself ever going down that road again for any reason. I have had friends and my doctor do tons of research for me and have help me get on the natural side of health.
Get a load of this. Along with my heart issues and diabetes the docs found lung polyps. I thought OK, here I go. I'm a locks of lover so I keep up with cancer folks and have seen how tough it is. Well one of my buddies sent me info on a natural treatment (asparagus). 3 months later polyps gone. This has been life changing and nothing less than. I'm seeing things through a totally different set of glasses these days. One of the guys helping me finished his cancer treatment a year ago. Couldn't walk without help 9 months ago. After his treatment he went all natural and is now up to 16 mile hikes. Here's the kicker 69 years old! Patting myself on the back, I now have a healthy heart after 2 attacks (no surgery except a stint) and last month I am now borderline diabetic and no longer full blown. There are other health concerns that have completely disappeared. This has all happen within 2 years of getting the poison out of my system. Oh, and speaking of the recreational part of life. I can take a couple sips of wine and I'm good to go, but I can also feel that little headache starting and that's poison. There is no more toxins build up in my system so when I do a juice bar or any natural booster I'm feeling good. I have found that it doesn't take much to find ourselves on the other side of high and addiction. We don't have to live in our mental and physical traps that I had talked myself into for so many years. Here is something that I have learned and I think based on what others have told me it is true. If ever you take something and you feel a negative side effect after it has passed through your system it is a poison. That goes for sleepiness, being wired, loss of memory, munches and a ton of them. This means it's doing your body harm and not good and will eventually cause more problems. Taking them till you get on a regular healthy pattern is cool but using them to make your pattern can cause problems in the waiting. |

As long as so many are lost and in pain there will always be substance abuse....sad to say. As long as fear is a motivator, there will be substance abuse. As long as the poisons of religion are feed to children there will be substance abuse. As long as people feel a need to be someone other than who they REALLY are, there will be substance abuse. I feel med-reef is a safer option for me than man made chemicals. Am I addicted to this..sure. Rather this method than one that destroys my liver and the million other physically, mentally and emotionally potential hazards there are in legal drugs. I'm all for the natural...and a firm believer in diet and exercise being beneficial for most aliments. I used diet and exercise while wrapping up menopause...amazing what changes happened. Watched and monitored my sons as far as what foods were beneficial to them and what weren't. Their eating habits today are based on what I found. I believe ALL the worlds problems can be solved with love, medicinal marijuana and a healthy lifestyle. |

Moderation is the key to all things.
Smoke a bowlful of tobacco once a month or so, and you'll likely live a long happy life. Smoke an ounce a day and you're looking for trouble. Weed? Hey a joint every now and then ain't gonna do you any harm. Stay stoned all day every day and again you're looking for problems. Booze? It ain't gonna kill ya. Spend your life sitting in a bar and it's gonna be a short life. Heroin, cocaine, opium, morphine? Guess what the doctors give ya for pain relief. But shove a needle in your arm five times a day, and you will end up on a slab sooner than later. |

The more I have cut out processed and fast foods and drinks from my diet, in lieu of more locally made things, or things I make myself, I am losing weight. I weighed about 200 lbs a year or so ago before I really started paying more attention to what I ate when I could. Now? I'm down to 170 or so. That's 30 lbs, imagine how much healthier we as a nation and world could be if we all did this. Reliance on the cheap and easy, is what is killing us. Sure it's convenient, but we pay for it later. In fact, our need for so many drugs may come as a direct result of such a diet. We may not have the problems we have, if we paid attention to what we ate, to what we are putting into our bodies on a daily basis. |

I agree with Mayhem_J. That is the bottom line. The government needs money to run; Especially law enforcement. Back before they went into confiscation there were harder times. But with confiscation helicopters were bought. There were more police, more police cars, more gas for police cars and the list just goes infinitude. It was amazing legal mafia had learn from the illegal mafia.

Well, I am one of the "pot heads". Been smokin it since I was 15, am now 43. I do not concider myself an addict as I can go without for a good period of time an not feel the effects of with drawl. I have had a complete medical work up, my slate is very clean I assure you, even heart an lungs. Alcohol kills more people every day than any other drug. I never heard of anyone causing an accident because they were on pot. No one goes into the psych ward cause they smoked a joint. My other half has "Brain Disease" caused by an accident. The drugs they put him on are BAD..take forever to work, have nasty side effects. I told him to smoke..He has cut out 3 of the 5 meds they gave him,an sleeps sooo much better. Dr. said " GOOD FOR YOU, do what works" as your scripts are over $900.00 per month. One will NEVER convince me that pot is addictive or dangerous. Tripping on pot? Never heard of it, ever. Paranoia is caused when yer brain knows you did wrong and people may notice..its in yer head.{ do i look stoned..are my eyes red?..etc.} Fear of getting caught. The feeling is natural, just enhanced. This however changes when the smoke is "treated" with some thing else { enbalming fluid..Raid, or yer smokin that stuff called "wet"}. This is just my opinion, my veiw..not meant to make any enemies. Live as you want..life is short.
