Western countries step up security after bin Laden killing
May 3, 2011, 14:51 GMT

Berlin - Several Western countries on Tuesday announced increased security measures at potential terrorist targets after US forces this week killed al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in a raid in Pakistan.
The United States announced it was halting public services at its embassy and consulates in the Pakistani cities of Peshawar, Lahore and Karachi, though a spokesman said the offices would remain open for other business, including emergency support of US citizens.
Spain was boosting security at its embassies in North Africa, the Sahel region, Afghanistan and Pakistan, Interior Minister Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba said.
Madrid would also advise Spanish aid workers and companies operating in those regions to step up security measures, the minister said.

Now, that said, why is our Southern Border still wide open?

IMO,it is the most vulnerable and BHOsama ignores it.

Is our National Security not worth his effort or is the Latino vote more important to him?

I think we'll just let our southern border open and let'em walk in. Or do what they do to us Americans when we go to Mexico, get raped, killed, and held hostage. I said to to hell with'em. Wall it up!!

Because they don't intend to actually close it, why else.

None of the things going on are for real safety, but rather the illusion of it while they justify more and more invasions of our rights and privacy.

Curious Moe, do you believe in the idea of the NAU, or North American Union between the US, Canada and Mexico?

I have contended for a while that that's part of why the border remains open as well, meaning that it's in essence a sign of things to come.

i'm not sure...i hate unions period... what does mexico do for us? what do they bring to the plate? same with canada... i seen no reason for us to even be friendly with them, much less have a union with with them... seems like a lopsided deal, with the US being on the short side again...

I doubt the Canadians would go for it because of what we cannot bring to the table, Moe

they would be wise to be concerned about our possible intentions to despoil their natural resources

and with Arizona and Texas ready to secede, we have bigger fish to fry at home

texas won't secede, we've talking about that since the 70's and it's no further along now than it was then...everything Canada has, we have our own, we don't really need any of their resources... I'm not talking bad about canada, it's s good country, along the lines as good place to live, but as a world resource, i guess they have plenty of wood...and Mexico, what resources do they have that we would even think about needing?... cheap labor? is that it?

Well the Mexicans do give us some good food........(ducks)

The whole point of it though as I understand it, would be consolidating the world even further down, setting the stage for a one world government. The European Union sort of took the lead towards going in that direction when it was formed. A North American one would be the next step I suppose.

i would agree with you more if it was all the America's, central and south too... but just North America sounds more like a power play by the US... The EU seems like it is dying out, once the countries saw what it really is...

with Mexico the only really thing there is agrandizement of the border
with Canada another frontier to ruin. fortunately I doubt they'd let us

besides as some point the whole notion loses merit - best friends should not always marry. We are prolly better off as allies than trying to become a single function

Is it? I hadn't really given that too much thought.

Understand too, that something like this much like with all the other stuff they have pulled on the people over the years, is a gradual process. It kinda has to be, because if they were to try it all at once, there's no way they'd get away with it.

It's like the frog in a pot of boiling water, you put it in when the water is real hot, it'll jump right out. But if you put it in room temperature water, and slowly increase the heat to where it's boiling, by the time the frog knows what is happening it'll be too late. Know what I mean?

as far as resources the Canadians have vast untouched waterways, land and mineral resources that prolly should remain untouched

mexico has a tourism industry, natural resources, land that could really be improved upon but corruption is evident when what should be a thriving economy is a struggling one. Someone is stealing & cheating and doin' wrong there
