What is heaven like?
Seriously, if you believe you are going to heaven, tell me what your life will be like there. Will there be food? Sex? Toilets? Houses? Lawns? Lawn mowers? |

Well if no one has any idea, why are people so excited about going there?
Are there really streets of gold? If so then there must be buildings or homes. Is heaven different for everyone? You must have imagined something about it. It seems to be all everyone ever talks about. "The perfect place..." No food, no sex, sounds rather boring... |

Think of a lamp, God being the light bulb, heaven is the light, the darkness where the light does not reach would be hell. |

I asking if people really believe in heaven, I want them to think about what it will be like. I mean, you are going to have to be there for a very long time.... what are you going to be doing there? |

What I was saying was that heaven is being close to God.

Not death but in life. If we but allow it God WILL surround us each with his Glory. In which case we live in heaven. No matter where in the Universe we are. For that light reaches all realms. I have faith in his glory. |

Why worry bout the Heaven one reaches at the end of life.
Why not try instead to create that heaven upon the earth... so that our grandchildren can grow up knowing peace within all the tribes of man. |

People in heaven will be praising God, living in a paradise, and sharing many memories of love and joy. Heaven isn't some castle up in the sky on a cloud. Heaven is brought to Earth. |

I realize these are things you have been told but you have not given it a great deal of thought. First you said that people would not have to eat or use the toilet and now you are saying that they will be "living in a paradise" and "sharing many memories of love and joy." Living sounds like they would have to have bodies and they would have to eat. Sharing many memories sounds like all they will be doing is talking about the good ol days when they were living in sin on the earth. Some people believe heaven with be on the earth, some people don't. So there is a conflict on that idea. Praising God for eternity sounds like it would get old after a few hundred years. But if you are "living in paradise" then what would your life be like? What will you actually do? Will you work, or sleep, or just sit around praising God and talking about the good ol days? |

Living sounds like they would have to have bodies and they would have to eat. When we are raised at the second coming of Christ we are given a new body, an incorruptible body. We will not need food, liquids, or anything of such. That is only essential to our mortal bodies to survive. Sharing many memories sounds like all they will be doing is talking about the good ol days when they were living in sin on the earth. Some people believe heaven with be on the earth, some people don't. So there is a conflict on that idea. Heaven is brought to Earth. And with sharing memories isn't specifically memories of our mortal life, but added memories made in the immortal life would be included as well. That would fall under making new memories though, but nevertheless the same if one shares these new memories with another. |

When we are raised at the second coming of Christ we are given a new body, an incorruptible body. We will not need food, liquids, or anything of such. That is only essential to our mortal bodies to survive. Where do you get this from? The Hebrew Scriptures? Can you share the text that describes this? You "preach" this stuff as though you have some sort divine authority to know that what you preach it true. But in reality all you've done is create your own vision of a mystical paradise. In the Bible it states that the streets in heaven are paved with Gold. Is that supposed to be a good thing to walk on? Or will there be vehicles in heaven that have tires suitable for running on gold surfaces? Or will people be given wings like angels and just fly around in AIR. The whole idea that "heaven" itself was a non-physical place flies in the face of angels with wings ya know. Flying with wings required air, air is a physical substance. So evidently the realm where the angels reside is necessarily a physical world. Does anyone even bother to think about these things with any sort of genuine reason? We say that we won't need to eat or drink anymore. How about breathing? Would we still need to breath? The only reason we need to breath now is to provide our metabolism with oxygen, but if you're going to do away with food and water then nothing would need to be metabolized, so breathing would be unnecessary too. Sounds like a pretty strange existence. Would we retain our breath just so we can shoot the bull about old times and sing songs of praise to God? Or we that all be done using mental telepathy? In fact, why would we need physical bodies or a planet to live on at all if physical things are no longer important? Clearly Christ needed his physical body to be 'resurrected' so he could 'ascend to heaven'. I've always said that this very story flies in the face of the afterlife supposedly being non-physical. Moreover both Jesus and God SIT on thrones in heaven. That implies that God gets TIRED of having to stand up all the time and prefers to SIT down and rest his weary butt. Are you sure he's not Zeus' brother? Sure sounds like Zeus to me. |

1 Corinthians 2:9 (NIV84)
9 However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him it is most likely inconcievable from such a flesh centered existence,,,but the question was just a rhetorical one( I think) regarding what our mind pictures when we think of it of course, because our mind only draws from worldly experience, we probably still have no clue,, |
