wouldn't it also help some if instead of going to the wal marts, go to the mom and pop stores that could actually use the money? seems to me, that would help at least a little... It would. How do you get them to do that?
spread the word i guess, a little bit at a time... most people that shop at wal mart have no clue about economics, or just don't care On the contrary... Those of us that shop at Walmart do so because the ECONOMY is something we face every day. |

That was so long, I doubt many will read it. On the other hand, everyone should read it. Why? It's just a string of logical and economic fallacies. Regaurdless, it still needs to be read. The overall idea of the post is true, the minority own the majority. In Canada, where I am from originally, 80% of their economy is based in small business. In the USA our elected officials come from the 1% and serve the 1%. It seems to me the Gov. here has divided itself, like most of the country has in sports, into 2 teams. It doesnt matter what the issues are anymore, as long as your team wins, who cares? Only here have i heard the saying "best country in the world" so many times by people who have never lived anywhere else. Americans seem to have the idea that, as long as they have more than any other country economically, they are the best. Money isn't real, but power is. Yes the USA is the most powerful country, but that power is suppose to be in the handsof the people, and from what I have witnessed and studied, power in the USA is handed down to the same families over generations. Sounds a lot like monarchy to me, the only difference is you get to vote which family you want to have the most power for 4 years. |

Hmmm here in Australia a lot of our Things are marked with AUSTRALIAN MADE.. Does your country mark things with American made so you can buy the things made and grown in your own country rather than buying everything from other countries.
If possible I always chose things that are made here, it helps keep our jobs in our country and not send them overseas. And if it is made in Australia but uses products from out of the country to make it, that is also shown on the label. |

Labeling is a controversial thing, Josie. I had to go to Wikipedia to check up on where the laws are on that. I tried to boil the article down to a summary, but found the whole article to be really interesting.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Made_in_USA Long story short, the labels aren't very helpful to the consumer. Was the product truly made in America? Or were the parts made in China and assembled in America? What percent of the parts were made in America? Does "America" mean Dayton Ohio, or does it me a sweat shop in American Samoa? Business interests are very intent on preventing any kind of regulation that would make these issues coherent. |

We have australian made and owned, Australian made, with imported ingredients, or parts. made with australian products . Grown in australia, and so on. Most of our labelling will tell you exactly where it has come from, I myself like to buy things from here, but not everything is. Even our vegemite was sold off and when we tried to buy it back they wouldnt sell it. I guess the thing is that if its made here, it helps, if its grown here it helps more. No way do I ever want our country in a spot where someone who wants to work cant find a job to support themselves... |
