Topic: Same-sex marriage! | |

Do you guys think that the constitution of the US should consider same sex marriage under the equal protection clause?
I do not understand why people dislike homosexuals; they share the same rights since they are also human beings. |

Did not mean to get you fired up. :) I would say...yes. I am neither pro/anti homosexual. What one does is their own business. It does not affect me in any way. I'm divorced and the rate for heterosexuals is over 50% so maybe we are not doing something right either.

Well it just makes me mad when people see homosexuals as something strange.

I mean true love. Love that is real, where your marriage vows actually mean something. If you can find it, I say go for it. It is "strange" because it is something I havent experienced so I cant wrap my head around it. Know what I mean. And I do not think they are looking for "special" rights, just the same rights. I'm done preaching. :) |

I do not understand why people dislike homosexuals; they share the same rights since they are also human beings. gays have the same rights as everyone else... they want "special" rights alot of the reasons that many of them are either gay or lesbien has to do with some of there past i have a friend that i have known for 30yrs that is a lesbien she a great person and i can understand why she is that way. it came from her past my daughter was in a lesbien relationship for a year that was her choice... we all saw the neg and abuse from her ex partner.. it just took my daughter that long to see she now in a relationship with a man and expecting her 4th child.. she seem more content than she ever had been i also have 2 cousin that are gay i dont know there reason. nor did i know my daughter my mom thought she was going through a faze and wanted to expirement.(which was possible) but the problem with my daughter ex partner she allowed my youngest granddaughter to call her daddy and that really pist the family off even though my youngest granddaughter doesnt know her dad for hes been in jail for 4yrs... that doesnt make it right for a partner or ex partner of the same gender to be allowed to call them daddy.. i even had mention that to my daughter ex partner if my daughter would had stayed geeze that would had totally confused my youngest granddaughter for she would think wow i didnt know my dad was a lady...... |

The point is for approval of same sex marriage! |

Hey salexx, now I'm getting fired up hehe. I do not think there is any such thing as common law marriage between two gay people is there? Secondly, if you want to marry someone, which means having it recognized by everyone and God, why should you be restricted in who you marry?

The point is for approval of same sex marriage! some states you are allowed to marry your partner (lesbien and gays) in california it was legal up untill last yr i belive in oregon you can get married but its not really legalized a friend of mine got married to her now ex partner as my daughter is a ordain mister and she married them in oregon you dont have to register that your a ordain mister there was a couple if i recall right they lived in cal and they were together for over 25yrs. and when the bill past for that short time they went ahead and got married.. not long after that. the one partner died. |

Salexx, you seem like a very sweet person. Stick to your beliefs. Sorry you have been hurt. If you keep being who you are, I am sure the right person will come along. from a friend. |

I think it needs to be recognized constitutionally so that they do receive all benefits, including medical, insurance and various and assorted legalities that a hetero couple receive.
Not all states recognize common-law, and some states will nitpick it. Texas supposedly does, unless there really isn't children involved. The divorce lawyer I spoke with rolled his eyes at me, when I had to ask because the ex wanted to claim we were common-lawed to get half of my things. He told me that it wasn't, and the ex was a nut, basically. They WILL NOT recognize common-law for gay couples. The neighbors behind us have to very carefully detail everything out for legal issues, but they're basically screwed since that can't be and will not be legally recognized unless the federal government makes a change. |
