Topic: Tea Party Likes to Torture Puppies | |

No kidding. Voters in Missouri, long known as the puppy mill capital, passed The Puppy Mill Cruelty Prevention Act last November.
Tea party groups stridently opposed the referendum, arguing it was “just another example of big government meddling in people’s lives.” Now, capitalizing on the big gains they made in November, Republicans in the state legislature are poised to repeal the regulations Missouri’s voters enacted:

Here's the actual bill that voters initially passed. I don't see anything there that steps beyond the boudaries of common human decency

Rights activists, on the other hand, think "humans and animals are on the same level, ownership of an animal is slavery," and that "animals should have attorney representation" (presumably so every dog can have his day in court). The reference to Sunstein is probably related to a paper he wrote in 2002, called "The Rights of Animals: A Very Short Primer," in which he explores whether or not animals should have rights. Sunstein also co-wrote a book in 2004 about animal rights, in which he writes: "On this view, representatives of animals should be able to bring private suits to ensure that anti-cruelty and related laws are actually enforced." http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/10/missouri_tea_partiers_joe_the_plumber_join_movemen_1.php |

TEA Party means, taxed enough already.
That bill is just another tax and fines. I may be incorrect but, I believe, every state has animal cruelty laws already. Freakin' Progressives want more babysitting. |

Freakin' Progressives want more babysitting. It's not that at all. We have a problem with bad puppy mills in Missouri. The stuff that they've been caught doing is sickening, Willing. Many dogs from the mills have had to been put asleep because they're soo ill and deformed from their abusive living conditions. |

Humane society rescues 180 animals from unsafe facility in Bonne Terre, Missouri.
March 15, 2011 at 2:35 PM (KMOV)--Authorities rescued 180 animals from an unsafe rescue facility in Bonne Terre on Tuesday. The Humane Society of Missouri Animal Cruelty Task Force rescued 115 dogs, 60 cats and 5 puppies, from the St. Francois society. The animals were brought to the Humane Society of Missouri’s Headquarters on Macklind Avenue in St. Louis. Authorities say the Missouri Department of Agriculture had inspected the facility last month and recorded numerous violations that jeopardized the health and welfare of the animals. The facility’s license was revoked when few changed were made, and the sheriff obtained a warrant for removal of the animals. Experts say that many of the animals are suffering from hair loss and coughing. Dozens of cats were found inside trash-strewn rooms filled with cobwebs. Many of the animals appear to have upper respiratory infections and possibly internal and external parasites. The breeds of the dogs include various mixes of Border Collies, Irish Wolfhounds, Corgis, Beagles, Shepherds, Labrador Retrievers, and Dachshunds and Chihuahuas. A disposition hearing to determine permanent custody of the animals will be held April 11 in St. Francois County. http://www.kmov.com/news/local/Human-society-rescue-over-180-animals-from-unsafe--118026539.html Yes, Missouri has a problem. |

monkey see, monkey do I never would have referred to President Obama as a monkey. We had plenty of that during last summer's Tea Party rallies.
Well, I guess you're saying that Progressives are the monkeys looking at President Obama and doing what he does. Is that why his disapproval rating among democrats has continued to increase since his election? You really ought to keep up on the news. |

isn't he the leader?....monkey see, monkey do... he is supposed to set an example for the rest of us... I think that Conservatives view Party leadership a bit differently than democrats. You remember the old Will Rogers quip. "i don't belong to an organized political Party. I'm a Democrat". As true today as it ever was.
