Kids today are plugged in - to all of the wrong stimuli. Instead of reading the Bible, they are on Twitter and Facebook, doing God knows what. They're checked out, and plugged into their I-Pads and I-Pods and everything to do with technology. However, if they are asked to read the Bible, and I know this because I teach a Bible Study class to teenagers, at first, they are opposed and think it is boring. HOWEVER... After they learn about the Bible and learn how it is a handbook for life, they get hooked on it. Jeanniebean, I like you. You're 62, and you are a good looking woman. However, you don't make much sense. How would the Bible, properly taught, confuse children. If anything, it addresses issues kids face. Girls would learn they are God's children, and so, not seek to cut themselves or get fat sucked out of their stomachs or injected into their breasts. Guys would learn that they don't have to do drugs to be cool. And there's a lot more. You say it is a waste of time. I can tell you that I have taught over 200 kids in Bible study, and they could share testimonials with you as to how the Bible has made their lives better. |

But none of this answers why the BIBLE should be banned?
I guess you just aren't listening. Why do you think schools in my community banned Harry Potter? |

I guess you just aren't listening. Why do you think schools in my community banned Harry Potter? This is a relevant question. I dont know why they banned it but Im sure it was something that had to do with how YOUR COMMUNITY accepted or didnt accept the book in ITS SCHOOLS. This is the same choice I feel should be given regarding the Bible. Let the communities decide and keep it out of governments decision. |

High school has few electives outside of the required. College is a good place for people to learn about all religions anyway. Brain is better equipped for it. |

You can show me as many testimonial as you want, but that does not make the Bible any more special than other modern, non-religion based books. Personally, I was horrified with the stories in the Bible, particularly the slaughter of so-called "evil" people at the hands of Joshua. I was a small child and I knew then there was something really wrong with that. |

Christianity is a misogynistic, homophobic and supremacists religion so it isn't exactly healthy especially for women. |

You are certainly free to practice your religion! But if the State sponsored any religion, and put it in the public schools, one day you might discover that your children were being taught some other religion besides the one you want. Don't you understand that concept? Please try to get that into perspective. |

Dragoness, you are a pretty woman, but you should smile more.
As to the Separation of Church of State, here it is, verbatim: The concept of separation of church and state refers to the distance in the relationship between organized religion and the nation state. The term is an offshoot of the phrase, "wall of separation between church and state," as written in Thomas Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptists Association in 1802. The original text reads: "...I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between Church & State." The phrase was quoted by the United States Supreme Court first in 1878, and then in a series of cases starting in 1947. Like many other governing principles, the phrase "separation of church and state" itself does not appear verbatim in the U.S. Constitution. The First Amendment to the Constitution states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." We're not talking about making an establishment of religion in school, but merely about teaching a book. Thus, the Separation of Church and State argument has nothing to do with this topic. |

No they banned it because they decided and judged it as anti-Christianity. They thought it was too popular among their kids, and that it would turn their kids towards witchcraft and away from Christianity. They banned it because of their religion. |

But your mind is so one sided that you cannot see the point of teaching all religions to be fair or none to be fair. It isn't about your one religion, it is about all religions. All religions have to be taught or none The state can show no favoritism, although it has and that is why christians are crying about it now, or it will be choosing a national/state religion which is against the constitution. |

Who is crying about anything? I'm not crying. You write that "all religions have to be taught or none. The state can show no favoritism, although it has and that is why Christians are crying about it now, or it will be choosing a national/state religion which against the constitution."
So, teach 'em all. You want to teach Wicca, go right ahead. Bottom line is this, you put my God up against any of these other gods, and Yahweh will win, hands down. Many kids I teach tried these other gods, and it left them hollow and empty. So, Dragoness and I are now in favor of having religion in public schools. Who else? |

Whats the point of teaching the Bible in a public school anyway? It is taught in Churches, at home, private schools, Seminaries etc. Give people a break from your religious views! A public school is THE STATE. If you teach any religion in that school or study any book heralded as THE WORD OF GOD, then the state is sponsoring a religion. You can't do it so stop crying about it. |

The constructors came from places of state sanctioned religion and tortures of those who do not conform.
So in our country majority in religion means nothing. We can have one alienaologist in our country and that one religious person gets the same rights and privileges of the majority religion but it can't be taught by the government bbbbbeeeeeeeccccccaaaaaassssseeeee............no religion can be sanctioned by the government and be taught by the government. |

Oh so now you are promoting a war in public schools. Get real. And yes, you are crying. Crybaby. Get over it. It ain't gonna happen. |
