Topic: Oh The Horror! (Discuss anything horror related) - part 2 | |
---|---|
Just managed to barely survive watching: Zombie Driftwood I love zombie films, especially if there's a bit of comedy involved. Having some cheesy bits in it is not a bad idea as well, since I'm a sucker for it. But quite frankly, Zombie Driftwood was like being mentally and visually tortured. I think getting a pair of rusty pliers and pulling your fingernails off one by one would be more enjoyable than having to sit through this horrible film. Where do I even begin in describing this agonizingly disastrous movie? Everything about it was pathetic. I've seen a lot of badly done make up, fake-looking fake blood and ghastly prosthetics, but this one takes the cake. It's like watching someone's poorly made Halloween party, only much more inferior. And do not get me started on the script or the acting. Ugh. I've watched more convincing characters in a Kindergarten school musical. My advice: Stay as far away from this movie as possible. Are you trying to say you didn't like it? I hope I wasn't that obvious. I don't want to appear too critical. |

Too bad, I like the title...another bad zombie movie with a good title is Dead Clowns. |

Too bad, I like the title...another bad zombie movie with a good title is Dead Clowns. Actually, the title and the short, but misleading synopsis were the reasons why I watched it. The concept was great! But that's the only good thing about it. lol. I try to stay away from horror movies involving clowns. |

Just finished watching:
The Last Broadcast (IMDb)Bristling with equipment, two enthusiastic local access cable TV producers recruit an assistant and venture into a forest in search of the mythical and horrifying Jersey Devil. Days later, only one of the trio emerges. He becomes the prime suspect in the disappearances of the other two. However, a local filmmaker examines extensive footage found at the scene and arrives at a different conclusion. |

But my main complaint is the ending- I didn't like how they switched from "found footage" to regular film(or however you would describe it)...it totally took me out of the film. It felt too much like a cheat. |

It felt too much like a cheat. I actually enjoyed this more than The Blair Witch Project in the sense that, initially, it looked more believable. Especially with people like me, who has never heard of the said movie before. If you showed this to someone unaware of the whole scenario, they would probably believe it to be as it was presented. Well, exempting the last part, at least. The actors were mediocre, but it actually played well into the film. Have to give brownie points for that. The suspense was quite good, and I do get why they gambled with the switch to some omniscient viewpoint. They probably thought it was a clever idea. |

BW's ending I consider one of the scariest in the last 20 years. Like I said, enjoyed TLB, the ending, nope. Too this day, there are still people who believe BW really happened, so they did something right, then again there are also people who think Rose Red is a real house, and that there really was a family of cannibals killing people in Texas in the early 70's. So I guess I didn't make much of a point |

So I guess I didn't make much of a point Yes, but it's because they designed it that way, whereas TLB did not. I think it's like they were making a mockumentary about these types of films, hence the "humorous" and drastic switch in the ending. Only they failed to deliver and most of the audience felt cheated. |

It was more like inspired by "real events". But you asked Torgo, so I won't say anything. |

well it was really boring until the end. something happened downstairs and when he goes he ends up being thrown into the room http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CX2qGaJSF8 but it had another ending too I think the wife went to use the toilet and the seat was up, that would explain her scream. I'm really not sure, I read that the ending was changed due to a suggestion from Steven Speilberg. |

I still prefer BW, and I even like The St Francisville Experiment better. What is the first found footage horror film? Cannibal Holocaust? I know there were mockumentary horror films from way back, like The Legend of Boggy Creek. There's also the silent Häxan: Witchcraft Through the Ages, but I think that was meant as an actual documentary on witchcraft. |
