(IMDb)A young psychiatrist interviews four inmates in a mental asylum to satisfy a requirement for employment. He hears stories about 1) the revenge of a murdered wife, 2) a tailor who makes a suit with some highly unusual qualities, 3) a woman who questions her sanity when it appears that her brother is conspiring against her, and 4) a man who builds tiny toy robots with lifelike human heads. |

The Severed Arm '73
Trapped in a cave, five men cut the arm off of another companion in order to ward off starvation. After they are saved, their victim seeks revenge on them one by one. This is one of those horror films that gets a lot of hate, but I've always enjoyed it. It's a great little revenge/proto-slasher flick. You can get it in the 4-movie DVD pack Flesh Feast, along with I Eat Your Skin, Slave Of The Cannibal God, and The Undertaker And His Pals |

(IMDb)In this unsettling and creepy thriller, Karen (Ilona Elkin), a young nurse who works in a psychiatric ward, boards the last subway train of the night only to have it stop suddenly in the middle of the tunnel. As those around her are brutally murdered, Karen and a handful of survivors must face supernatural forces, homicidal religious cult members, as well as their own fears and suspicions of Armageddon, in order to survive. A good low-budget film that made me jump from the very beginning. Character development was a bit short, but you get to know them just enough to care who to root for before they kill or be killed. What actually scared me were not the demons or ghoul-like creatures, but the fact that these religious extremists can exist now and what was shown in the movie is not that far off in terms of possibilities. I also noticed some homages to Carl Sagan, Romero and Kubrick, which made me smile. :) |

Double Feature: The Child and The Pit
The Child '77 A newly-hired housekeeper in a remote area is alarmed to discover that her boss's eleven-year-old daughter is using her supernatural powers to take revenge on the people she holds responsible for her mother's death, with the aid of her flesh-eating zombie 'friends'... - IMdB The acting is extremely wooden...okay it's petrified, but it more than makes up for it in atmosphere and setting. TRAILER http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1O-vnfCfieA The Pit '81 A female college student gets a job watching over a trouble 12 year old boy named Jamie. Jamie whose only friend is his Teddy bear, and creatures that live in a hole in the woods. Soon the people that have wronged Jamie begin to disappear in the woods. This is still one of my most watched horror films, been a fan since I first saw it on VHS back in the 80's. It's almost like 2 films- one part is about a college student babysitting a very odd boy, the other part is a monster on the rampage flick. What I love are some of the unanswered questions- When Jamie talks to his stuffed bear Teddy(Jamie is very creative) it sounds like Jamie's voice talking back, which leads you to believe Teddy is all in Jamie's head...yet there's a scene where Teddy moves on his own and Jamie is nowhere around.
