Philosophy is the practice of chasing someone elses tail. Science is simply an application of learned knowledge at a limited level of knowledge... Once the next level of 'knowledge' is open all previous 'science' is proven to be false assumptions based upon 'perceptions' of reality. |

Learned levels of self delusion. Philosophy is the practice of chasing someone elses tail. I think that's only the study of other people's philosophy. I think personal philosophy is forming your own world view and belief system. |

When people use the word "Science" they can mean different things.
Science can be the results, or the process. Its more meaningful IMHO to conciser science the process than science the results. The process of Science moves asymptotically toward the truth of reality. |

The process of Science moves asymptotically toward the truth of reality. Hopefully. Unfortunately it is often only the study of objective reality. Real science, if it is done right, could possibly uncover truths about reality that will change our current perception of what the true nature of reality is. It may be quite different than what we think. |

Once the next level of 'knowledge' is open all previous 'science' is proven to be false assumptions based upon 'perceptions' of reality. Don't they call that kind of science "Theory" |

All 'Theory' is based upon the 'theory' that was postulated before...
If the underlying 'theory' has an inacuracy so also will the 'new' one... House upon the sands. |

All 'Theory' is based upon the 'theory' that was postulated before... If the underlying 'theory' has an inacuracy so also will the 'new' one... House upon the sands. That is assuming a lot of rigidity for something built on sand. There is a quote on a wall at the Research University that I attend: "The greatest obstacle to discovery.....is the illusion of knowledge" Daniel J Boorstin It always reminds me to think in other directions...not to make assumptions...but to be open to new ideas. To me that is the mark of a true scientist. |

Science is a form of realism, math, self discovery and enhancement.

science is the study of the natural world based on the scientific method in its beauty it asks us for evidence it asks us to question to predict then prove science is as beautiful as sex Except the scientific method can only disprove, not prove. Proof is not a part of the scientific method. Evidence, support, yes. But proof is in the realm of philosophy, of math (which is a part of logic, which is a part of philosophy) or of alcohol content. Science observes and reports. Natural scientists create theories. They are called scientists, sometimes, or philosophers at other times. Even technicians and hunters of the wooly mammouth are scientists. A scientist is a person who observes and reports (an experimenting scientist) or creates theories (a theoretical scientist) or both, or else neither (a Scientologist or a member for the church of science). All people who fall into any one or more of these four combinations are scientists. I am not a scientist. I am a software developer. More precisely, I develop ideas using only language. This is really far removed from science. I met some scientists and they are hateful people. They called me ugly and a monster to all inquiry everywhere. |

*summons fail whale* Yes, you are absolutely right. If I am taken lightly, or on the surface, and not analytically or deeply submerged into the study of understanding what I say, then yes, I do sound like an idiot. I have learned to release all blame arising from that. |

without science you wouldn't be here talking on the internet, driving cars, be vaccinated against infectious diseases, etc...life as we know it would not exist!
not all scientist are hateful people! |
