My nephew had a fear of falling out of bed when he moved up to a 'big boy bed'. So he always said good night ...."night, don't fall off the edge!!!"
He's soon to be 20 and we still say goodnight this way

His first night at college last fall, late at night, I called him and when we hung up we both said it at exactly the same time with tears choking our voices. He'll always be my baby
