Do you lock your house when leaving, your car when parked?
When I was a kid my dad and grand dad were bank president and vice president and were always afraid us kids would be kidnapped and held ransom for the bank vault, so every time one of us lost a key my dad would have all the locks on the house changed. With 5 kids you can imagine how many dead bolts he went through! Don't know for sure if that is what started it but I hate keys and locks. I am to cheap to leave the porch light on for 8 plus hours while working so there I am in the pitch dark wondering which freaking key it is I need and does it go this way or that way??? So I have stopped leaving my keys in my car but unless I am away on vacation (I wish) I lock myself in at night but otherwise my car and home are open. What about you? PS if someone wants in bad enough they will get in and then I have to pay for the damages! So says I! LOL |

I lock everything up, all the time. My vehicle is parked right
outside my front door, and whether it's my car or house...even if I didn't hear anything...my neighbors are so freakin' nosy they wouldn't be outside more than two minutes before the neighbors would be right there chattering away and harassing them. Besides, I'm such a light sleeper I hear EVERYTHING...plus I have a nice shiny bat right by my bed...and veerrrry good aim. |

I lock everything up, if they want in bad enough, all I have to say the police station is only a block a way and I have a few choice weapons tucked away.

I keep a 6 cell mag light by my bed, makes a good weapon and a good light! I like multi task tools! LOL I too have amazing hearing, I swear I can hear the grass grow! |

Unlocked, that way if someone comes without a invite. I can kept them for a few months. So I can practice my electrical wiring.

I lock up everything tight as can be.
Then I check it three times. I have a little .22 'persuader' I keep handy. To persuade a thief to go elsewhere. Everyone says it would only annoy a real burglar. So, I keep my wits about me, in case I have to talk them out of it. |

Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Jesus H. Christ! Private Pyle, why is your footlocker unlocked?
Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, I don't know, sir! Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Private Pyle, if there is one thing in this world that I hate, it is an unlocked footlocker! You know that, don't you? Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, yes, sir! Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: If it wasn't for dickheads like you, there wouldn't be any thievery in this world, would there? |

I feel sorry for anyone who would want to steal my van. To be that desperate they must need it more than me. I never lock the house. I mean who want anything I got. To be poor and have nothing is really a blessing.

locks are olny to keep honest people honest. olny time I lock the truck is when there are guns in it. the house ,there is always at least one door unlocked. someone would have to get past the hounds to get to anything. I olny sleep about four hours out of twentyfour, and not all at once. so it would be a crap shoot for an intruder, was told long ago that they have to fall inside the house to be justified shooting. and no I dont like the fact that a person has to lock up everything. seamac get ya a miny mag to hang on your keyring,or use a cell phone lite to help find the right key. |

Most criminals are opportunists. They keep checking for the unlocked home or car until they find it. If you don't lock your stuff up and it gets stolen or you get hurt, you have no one to blame but yourself.

I lock my apartment but don't lock my car. Kids will break windows to look for some change in a car.........

Thanks for the ideas but if I put anything more on my key ring I will hardly be able to life it, I have a flower key chain on my main key chain from Colorado when we went to my sisters wedding there. I key ring that a friend made me when I moved and a little string of beads that spell out MAINE plus about 6-7 keys!! The only one of which I use on a regular basis is my car key! I am one of a seemingly dying breed that doesn't own a cell phone. It is easier to just mostly leave one door unlocked except as I said when I lock myself in and the world out at night. |

lived in cities all my life therefore I lock EVERYTHING Well I will agree that where you live would have a huge influence on locking or not! If I lived in a city I think I would be more inclined to lock up but probably still wouldn't be good about it! Something about keys and locks just rub me a bad way, like living with this fear of something that may or may not ever happen. And I still say that if someone wants in badly enough they will get in. We all have windows made of glass... |
