On the other hand, went shopping for books for my 7 yr old boy, that was more fun, ended up buying a historical pop open book about the Titanic, can't wait to check it out with him. Also Rippleys beleive it or not 2010, lots of crazy pictures in there that will get him curious to want to read. So shopping for my son is way more fun. Who would of thought!!

Okay, you brought the exception to my deep seeded hate. Book stores. I LOVE THEM. love

Not that I'm trying to be contrary or anything, but I love shopping, and I can do it for hours. Particularly a place like Borders, or a sporting goods store with a good selection of hockey equipment. But I could probably do a couple of hours in any decent Wal-Mart without suffering any adverse effects, as long as I don't stare directly at the customers.

As for the mall, it's really the ONLY place around here where I have any chance of seeing anyone even remotely appealing. That right there (and the old Ms. Pac-Man in the game room) makes for a worthwhile trip.

Oh Lex, I hate malls and Walmart. Glad you enjoy them but I think our budding romance is domed to fail...love ya though.

Glad to hear a man say he loves shopping as much as I hate it, so much for stereotypes!

OK the question also asked why do we hate it (if we do) First I hate spending money I may or may not have. Second, clothes shopping when you are overweight is never fun and come to find out it isn't so good when you are underweight either. Second I have never shopped enough to know my way around so am always lost while shopping, as in I need my mommy!

I know the general impression (for good reason) is that women love to shop but in my case it was my late husband who loved it. Thanks to him I have nice things now. Like a Bose radio and a good tv.

I remember when my children were young (5 of them, two years apart). I would get a sitter and make a trip to the store and fill my cart full of things I wanted. I was always broke, so I could not buy. After I filled the cart, I would take a trip through the store and put each item back...and go home. I got to go shopping, didn't spend a dime, and it gave me a few hours away from the kids...made me a better mom, I think.

Very creative thinking! I am sure your kids had what they needed!
Indeed they did. My doctor told me I needed to find a way to get out of the house without them at least once a week. When I shopped for them, of course they went with me. I even made trips to the country when the stress became bad, would park on a country road, get out of the car and scream till I got the frustration out. Sang to some tunes on the way home and was a happy camper when I got back to the kidsbigsmile

when mine were little we'd go to cnsignments and it made them so happy cuz they could get a couple of things each
Kids are always happy when they can get something....and most don't care what it is...as long as they get it! So easy to please when they are smallbigsmile

ya - garage sales the same way when they were little - it was like a little bit of Christmas. I don't know anyone who really would have had it any other way

my kids are still easy to please and my babies are 6' + these days

Oh I did that too, gas was almost affordable back then, I would put baby in his car seat and just drive and sing off key and feel so much better!

I was a single parent for ten year, so looked for cheap/free ways to have any time alone. I remember watching the dads come to pick up some of my son's friends for a night or a weekend and just wishing they would take my son too. Just a night off. Kudos to all of us who were single, or not, but broke and managed to raise happy, healthy kids! 30 years later my son and I are close which I count as my biggest blessing.
My kids and I are, also. Still hang out, play Gutiar Hero, have fun with the grandkids...whatever we can find to do. growing up without having a lot of things brought us closer together and they are more appreciative of the family. They never had one visit with their father, no child suppost, nothing...so I filled both sets of shoes and to be honest, I think we were all better for it.

I like the shops with the sign, "Any unattended children will be given a kitten or puppy."laugh

I think it is different when the shops have something you want to look at and you have the money to buy something if you see something you want.

Well, I can only be in a relationship for about 3 months, anyway, so it's probably best that we don't end up hijacking 95% of the forums talking about what a horrible mess we found ourselves in, and dragging it out for six years in the Poetry and Creative Writing Forum. I mean, there's enough drama here already, what with people talking about whether or not they would try to get the person above them to have sex with a Chia pet.

Glad to hear a man say he loves shopping as much as I hate it, so much for stereotypes!

I'm probably suffering from some kind of undiagnosed chromosome problem, because I have zero interest in the things guys are supposed to be interested in -- bars, drinking, football, hunting, fishing, working on cars, illiteracy, shirtless pics, that sort of thing. I don't know if that's good or bad.

I especially hate shopping with girls, I think in general guys hate shopping cuz most malls are not geared for men. If I could find a mall that had my levi's 501's and a small array of good solid work shirts in two different colors, and they served me in a drive by counter, I could get most of my clothes shopping done in about 3 minutes. I don't want or need to spend six hours trying on under wear and a buddy with me to ask if they make me look sexy!! When my undies are full of holes, I know I am due for another six pack of fruit of the loom at my local Wal Mart, in and out. Mission accomplished and good for another six years with me undies and only cost me 5$. Now that is smart shopping and sound investment logic.
Whats your take?
Ladies, please chime in and inform me why we are not on the same page as you when it comes to this shopping phenomenon.

6 hours to shop for undies?... ...didn't know that it took men that long laugh ...also did not know men call it undieslaugh...maybe that is why you do not like shopping...shopping in wrong departementlaugh

@lilblackmagic, that was a sexist generalization on my part, and I don't wear boxers, so what would you call em so I don't get mistaken in the wrong department again!

You have interest in the main thing guys are (straight guys anyway) supposed to have interest in. US!!!!

My late husband was into hunting and football, not the rest...still I don't miss those two things being a huge part of my life.

Thanks for letting me down gently, always the gentleman and always appreciated!

I hope the Bose and the car he bought me and my only tv (15 or so inch cause it was a kitchen table tv, flat screen, very cool but small now as my only tv) last a very long time! I will have to do with out if any of them die.

Just for the record, my late husband WAS quality.

Yes, I wore both sets of shoes too. My son wouldn't know his biological dad if he ran over him....HMMMMM just a wayward thought.

I don't like shopping with girls, either, and I don't particularly like to shop with other women. I only shop with another woman when my sister comes to visit. I am not a herd animal.

But I love to shop because I love clothes and shoes.

If a man doesn't care about how he looks, and that means his clothes as well as his grooming, why should a woman care to be seen with him? A lot (even most) men want to be seen with a woman who is well dressed and looks good, right? Why shouldn't a woman want the same?

I want to look good, and that means the right clothes, and the right clothes means shopping--it is a simple equation.

I buy just about everything on sale. Today, I bought two pairs of high boots and a dress for about $100. The boots were 70% off and the dress was 50% off.

In fact, finding things on sale is a part of the hunt that I enjoy.

And I have bought underwear for men; if you can find "undies" for $5, even at Walmart, I bow to you.

A large part of the dating game revolves around looks, but it also depends upon the type of woman a man seeks: if he likes stretch pants, over-sized tee-shirt and flip-flops on a woman, then he wouldn't worry about his clothes!
