Actually I believe that neither S. Palin or J. McCain quit when they ran.

If I remember McCain retained his Senate seat and Palin 'resigned' her Governorship after the campaign.

Her stated reason for resigning was that (to paraphrase) due to the controversy surrounding her she though it would be best for the State of Alaska if she did resign.

It would seem she was right.

Would be kinda bad for a state to have its governor under constant attack from all sides.

Kinda hard to get anything done.

I never thought about it before, but now that I think about it, I don't really know why the attacks on her started. What did she do? Or was it a smear campaign when McCain was running for pres and she was the VP?

Personally I think it was because she swung the numbers to hard and to fast on the polls... and it scared someone.

But I actually have no way of knowing cause I was not privy to the campaign war rooms.

i'm pretty sure they have to resign any public positions before they can run for president or VP... i remember bush had to give his governorship up to perry before he jumped into the mix for presidency...

All I know is that I hadn't heard of her before the elections and all I knew about her was she was running with McCain.

I know some politicians kids have been attacked before, but I don't think I've seen it to the extent as Palin's kids.....which is sad. If someone doesn't like mom, then fine but why bash her kids?

So, who's to say she won't do the same in any other office she may run for/be elected for?
