Topic: Anybody else separated = stuck? | |
---|---|
My marriage ended in August of 2008, and he still hasn't filed for divorce. I haven't dated yet ... this is the first time I've dipped tootsie in the singles pool.
Anybody else separated with a divorce nowhere in sight? |

If you want the divorce, you can always file it yourself.

I don't actually want the divorce. I mean - not enough to spend money I don't have, to get it. I'm not going to do without, financially ... he's been with my replacement (literal replacement. I moved out on Friday, she was there Monday, and moved in, bringing both her kids, 11 days later) for over two years now. You'd think they'd want to get hitched.

But all that doesn't stop you for dating. Just get out there, instead of waiting for the right moment, otherwise you're gonna be waiting for a loooooooong time.
Good luck |

When it's done...it's done. When I caught my ex cheating,
but that was it...he was out, I filed and did the whole divorce myself, and it was well worth it. It was a struggle at the time to adjust to the complete change of life as we knew it, but it was only around a hundred bucks for all the fees and filings, etc. If you do it yourself, and he doesn't contest it...which it doesn't sound like he could or would, it's only a matter of taking the time to fill in the forms. There are also allowances and agencies that will not only help you do so, but will help with the cost. If it's done...be done and move on. |

I have moved on as far as I as a person would likely move on. I've never been one for dating. One wonders why I'm on the site? Well, I'm kind of wondering that myself. My motto has always been, you can never have too many friends.

My motto has always been, you can never have too many friends. That's true & you will find plenty good ones here if you look around. Mingle is full of people with big hearts and loads of humor. Plenty of sweet, sexy men (like the one above) to take your mind off all your troubles too-LOL! |

That's how I started a couple years ago, just to connect with
the rest of the world, see what and who was out there, and if I found someone along the way, great. Talked to and/or met a couple weirdos, players, and some great friends, then met my sweetie. This place-forums-are a "getaway" place for most, and if nothing else provides a temprary escape from things, and you get to find out what all your cyber friends are up to. Widens your life in a wonderful way. |

Widens your life in a wonderful way. Yes it does! I actually left the ex hubby 4 yrs ago & didn't get the divorce until this year. I was in another LTR so my life had been a total mess when it comes to love! Divorced him & finally realized the other realtionship was never gonna be what I needed so split with him & soon after I signed up to see what's out there & make friends. Life is strange, the more I looked around the more I missed the ex hubby & I finally went to speak with him and WOW! Now we are looking at a second chance, although he won't be free until 2013, but that gives us plenty of time to strengthen our friendship! I have made many friends here and this place always seems to brighten my day when feeling down or just put icing on the cake if it's already a good one!!! |

I have made many friends here and this place always seems to brighten my day when feeling down or just put icing on the cake if it's already a good one!!! Absolutely! Good luck on the homefront. Most don't make it with second chances, mine didn't, but there are some that get it right the next try around. P.S. I'm glad though, I wouldn't have met Steve, I just wish I had a long time ago. |

Thanks Indigo, most people didn't have a forced separation like we did either so I am hopeful! We were both betrayed by friends & his family and so lost trust in each other and in humanity all together temporarily! We have done much healing and it seems to be going faster now that we have each other to lean on again. Best of luck to you & Steve... |

Widens your life in a wonderful way. I've been doing that on Delphi for decades, but most of them are women. Good women! I've made some awesome, real-life friends. But I miss the company of men. |

I don't think I'll be ready to speak to my mister until he's not with HER anymore. |

But I miss the company of men. nothing like boys being boys to bring ya a big ole grin! I am so lucky to have great guy friends in my life & I plan to spend xmas eve with my bff of 18yrs! I called him when I split with the ex bf & told him that the next man that confessed his love to me was gonna get kicked in the....well you know! He immediately replied with, "You know I love you...now what ya gonna do!" LOL When his Mom use to asked me why I hung out with him I always told her, "well, ya know how much I love dogs, right?" Hope you find some companionship to comfort you BDB! There are some wonderfully sweet and compassionate men here on mingle so stick around & get to know them! |

You'll do just fine.
Don't rush it. If you date, keep it that way for a while. If you need too get laid, go for it. Just stay away from any kind of rebounding. You are going to experience a lot of feelings about you "husband" and will need to endure alone. in the company of close female friends and maybe a counselor. This is all just my loving opinion. |

BD, you're off to a good start by creating your own thread topic. Way to get out there and find out common interests!
You'll do fine. Himself1 is a really nice and humorous guy. You'll run into him a lot in the Forums, just as you will the rest of us. So, just relax, and take your time. The people in the Forums like each other for their personalities, and that is what the Forums were intended for. If you feel up to it, jump into the flirting threads. It can be a great way to loosen up, have fun, and show your sense of humor. Forget about feeling uncomfortable. Once you start laughing, you'll feel as if you never were uncomfortable in the first place. |
