Don't get me wrong......

I have INCREDIBLE online friendships! MANY have gone beyond. I've hosted. I've traveled. I've met at mutaul destinations. I've had debates (not my favorite anymore). Found common ground. LEARNED! etc., etc., etc.,

Sometimes though I feel and wonder when I post, If I'm just saying, "look at me, listen to me"

like I am now......maybe that's a commonality?

Nothing wrong with a little self-indgulgence once in a
while, a momentary "look at me" feeling. It doesn't make
us bad or vain...just human.

Drivel can be fascinating.

Like an unReality Show where you
can have your 15 minutes of fame
on a daily basis.

I think you're right, but I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing.

For those of us who have no one to interact with in "real life," this sort of venue can be a useful form of compensation.

And what would be the point of posting, if you didn't want someone to read it....?

I agree. Why post if you don't folk to read what you have to say. Interaction with real life is priceless. Self indulgence is ok as long as it is not overdone. The world is full of those who "overdo" it.

Everyone needs expression and self-indulgent attention in life, to say look at me I am important too........some receive this in no other way but to put forth their thought and desires in a forum where they find that in certain cases there are others like them in this world when locally they find none.....to share and be shared with is human......and some live in humiliation as outcasts within their own families and communities......or misunderstood by those that try not to understand them and some are leaders lending wisdom and knowledge to those in need whatever your statement or answer or question seeking and requesting acknowledgement is a good thing......to dream and hope......to have faith and acknowledgement all important for healthy mental status.....and freeing of your inner self when so many wish to trap it anmd form it into conformity......the majority may rule but no one is made out of a mold.....and mold are meant to be broken

I don't know I always think of it more as: "Hello??? Anyone there???" or "Maybe this will be helpful" as opposed to "Look at me, listen to me."


I guess it's a matter of perspective.

I really enjoy reading what everyone has to say-
whether I agree with it or not.
I like reading what's on everyone's minds and what they've been up to -just knowing folks are the same everywhere ...........

I enjoy the forums and the people in them.....everyone has different ideas thoughts and opinions.....it gives me different aspects.............

i come here when i am lonely sometimes, but most of all, i really enjoy the forums, when the ongoing conversations are taking place. Moreso than the threads where it's a significant question with a bunch of random replies. I enjoy reading through those as well. I think a lot of people probably dont read through them they just leave their post and bail. I guess i like the acknowledgment that comes from the threads that promote just general conversation.

At times I think we do it just to see if others even read the words we post.... Many times I post and wonder if those words were wrote only for me to see.....

But later to find out that someone actually did notice what I had wrote....

People notice.

Funny how other people's drivel sometimes is more interesting than our own.
