At first it seemed very similar to Scarecrows '88- group of people find a farm whose original inhabitants have become scarecrows, but Husk added enough of it's own original idea that it went away from that.

I did like the concept...and that first scene got me too! When she saw its teeth. I also liked when they came across the old car and mail box and you realize that that use to be the road and the corn grew past it.

Exactly! I read some reviews and some were bashing it for being filled with cliches. I thought it was quite good and the concept original enough to stand on its own.

Yeah, the teeth! I think I jumped a bit there. haha. And when they found the old car, I thought it added a whole new dimension to creepiness. But I was wrong, the first scene of their friend sewing and those nails made me think, "Holy Crap!" That was when it struck me on how the film was going to swerve a different direction. At first, I thought some demented maniac dragged the missing friend from the car and was going to kill him to make him a scarecrow.

The people that bash these movies for being cliche filled must not watch many horror films since very few have zero cliches. Heck, all genres have cliches.

And you saw that the crows had also hit the windshield of that car too!

Before the movie there was an advertisement for the studio(same studio that brought out Husk) and they did a montage of scenes of their movies, they showed a scene with the nails going into the fingers, my first thought was "I want to see that!" so glad it ended up being the scene from Husk.

Haha! Yeah! When they regained consciousness and I saw the crow that actually came through the windshield, I thought, "Wicked!" It was one of those very rare movies where I wasn't irritated that the cast consisted of teens/student types. And it was a nice surprise that the geek got to be the last! I thought they would be sparing the girl again, but they swerved way off that cliche! :)

And the guy that started out as a jerk(the one that drove the car) was also likable.

I liked how the nerd kept learning about the farm's past, yet they still didn't explain everything away.

Correct! And I liked how every character would evolve! One minute you're liking one and hating the other, then the next minute it completely switches! At least, that was how it was for me. Also, I thought it was really cool that the nerd figured out the time line and the pattern! I knew they were going to use the chess board somehow! hahaha.

I thought they would to because they kept showing it.

I like the idea that it could only be in one scarecrow at a time, and when it was attacking the guy in the truck and it kept switching between the 2 scarecrows.

Yeah! But they made it so that it gave an illusion that it was several scarecrows at once!

Soooo, what did you think of the ending? I was quite miffed that they weren't able to light the field up, though I did like that the movie constantly veered from the obvious.

Don't want to spoil too much for people who want to see it. But I liked the ending.

I didn't. But only because it left me hanging in nail-biting suspense! Do you think there will be a part 2?

I'm not sure, if they did, I just hope they don't do like some sequels, where if things aren't explained in the first movie, they jam the sequel full of explanations.

I still have the DVD and it has a commentary so I'm going to listen to that before I send it back. It's definitely a movie I want to own.

Bah. What an unfair cruel world we live in.

But I do know that at first they didn't have a budget for the movie and it was supposed to be just a short film on sci-fi channel or something.

I make time to watch this movie. Since old men can still be the best they were.

There is a short film, and this is based on that. It might be Chiller, they sponsor short horror films.

Which short film? I'd like to see it.
