Ever thought you may end up single for life? Would you be okay with that?

I'm about 99.9% sure that's my future. I've only been able to find one person who was compatible and interesting in the last 10 years, and that's been an on-and-off disaster the whole time.
The older I get, the more I see that there's no market for an intelligent, creative guy with a mind of his own and an unwillingness to become a cardboard cutout of what some Lifetime made-for-TV movie thinks constitutes a "man." I'm OK with being alone, for the most part. I wish it didn't have to be this way; but I'd rather be alone than go through more horrible relationships where I WISHED I was alone. |

I've learned to enjoy life as it is. I'm pretty content and I think that's the key. If I find someone, great, if not, I'll still be happy.

Would you be okay with that? well I can't go through my whole life alone because I have already been in a 17 year marriage where my primary failings were, I believe, incorrect placement of pans in the kitchen, and interrupting Dallas Cowboys football with vacuuming, (I did worse things but I have deduced that those were the touchstones) Anyway, no I cannot imagine that. But it looms ever large in front of me, I suppose.

I've learned to enjoy life as it is. I'm pretty content and I think that's the key. If I find someone, great, if not, I'll still be happy. This is pretty much how I feel myself. I would not mind having someone within my life but if it is meant to be it will happen if not then I'm ready to live my life alone........... 
Honestly at your age your way to young to have those thoughts........

Honestly at your age your way to young to have those thoughts........
I was married at eighteen for seven years and have a eight year old son. I may look young but I feel like I've "been there, done that" already. |

Oh, I thought you were the Scots from the interracial dating thread and I know ur new here so I will explain - sorry to confuse and I know it's a bit off topic but for quite a long awhile I had a friend on here and she & I are all hot for cute scots in kilts - we had a bunch of photos posted in an old thread in the S&I section. She eventually left the site with one (Scots in a kilt) Oh, and you don't seem like a racist at all. There's far too much political correctness in the world today

Well now that you've learned your lessons, it should be easier next time around LOL! yes we'll either each have our own kitchen or I'll buy a bell and ring for him to bring me my tea

Have lived alone so long that yeah I like my time and don't want someone that is clingy or needy.... Hard to find those that understand that and need the same....

Sure I will be single....except for when I get hooked up. I have waited 43 years..... dont see the point in getting in a hurry now.

I think if I was more outgoing I probably wouldn't have trouble dating, but I'm not. I'm a borderline hermit who's subconsciously terrified of rejection. It's my play-it-safe routine that may keep me single for life
I do have hope I might find the right woman for me, but I'm also a realist |
