Topic: what do ya do when love just won't die | |

This feeling is very new to me....Have you ever met someone you didn't find attractive and they didn't match your intellect but you felt a very strong connection with?...you have things in common...and it feels like you always want to talk to that person....and you feel sad when you don't? Anyone felt like that before with someone and if so what kind of relationship do you have with that person now? yes, as intellect to me. comes in many forms, it's not always a matter of traditional book learning but anyway, yes I have and we are friends and have been for quite some time - and I think he is actually much smarter than I am - just doesn't have formal education. Really, I have had several male friends who fit that description, actually, but not all of them were boyfriends tho - most just friends |

I have found only one workable cure. Replacement. I agree with this, in principle. I just haven't found anything remotely resembling a suitable replacement yet....But if I do.... |

I just haven't found anything remotely resembling a suitable replacement yet....But if I do.... the devil broke the mold when he made this one and I am afraid that there is no suitable replacement! LOL We were best friends for many years and life has tested both of us in some rather unjustly ways & neither of us intended to hurt the other person! We are both willing to let it be water under the bridge and see if we can at least salvage the friendship! He's family and sometimes you gotta just get over chit for family! |

I just haven't found anything remotely resembling a suitable replacement yet....But if I do.... we want to be thought of as special - as though I were his first and only (even if I'm obviously not) I want a new man but not a replacement, we are each as individual and unique as precious snowflakes, Lex!! |

Yeah, that was really not the best word for what I was trying to say, I just sort of appropriated it from the earlier post. And you're absolutely right -- I would like to find someone truly special -- it just doesn't seem to be in the cards. |

Seriously, what the heck do ya do??? It just seems like no matter how much damage we do to each other we just can not break the bond that we share! I have a feeling that one day we may laugh about all this and really wish that life was not so complicated! I've dealt with this for 5 years. The key word is the damage you do to each other. Quite honestly, at some point, you have to ask yourself if you are addicted to the breaking up and getting back together. The hot make up sex and undying words of devotion. Trust is a fragile thing...and it's not easy to re-establish. Patterns have been set and that is difficult to change. I choose to love from afar and move on with my life. Will I always love the person-of course. Was the back and forth good for either of us-of course not. Sometimes fate puts someone in our path that changes our life forever. I have to believe in this lifetime it is not meant to be. If you don't stay away and continue the back and forth you don't give yourself a chance to see if there is someone who you will feel the same way about eventually. Your heart can't break away and find out if you still talk to each other. Don't romanticize how great you were for each other. The highs and lows can be addicting. There had to be lows and bad times or you would have still been together. My two cents from experience. |

If I explained the complicated manner in which we became separated it would just give everyone a headache. We have both had time to come to terms with the hand we were dealt in life and are happy to re-establish our friendship now! It was amazing how none of it even mattered when we were face to face gossiping about what the family is up to. |

Go Fishing! whatever you do dont try to quit smoking cigarettes lol LOL! thanks, but I quit smoking 4 yrs ago when I started grad school! Sometimes in life you just have to accept that you are not always in control of every aspect of your life. I think love is both a blessing and a curse at times! |

Speaking from zombie experience, a double tap on the head does the job. haha-my only ticket to freedom! thanx You're welcome. Seriously though, I hope you'll be able to find a way through the challenges you're now facing. I do believe, from what I've read of your posts, that you're a nice and sincere person, and should be treated as such. |
