Oceans if we left Iraq what do you think the other countries would do? Would they then go in for the oil?

Hi Harry
My apologies Lawry, but I'm afraid you just have to suffer it |

Hi, sexisweetie
I think most of the countries in Europe would leave well enough alone. It's only the bigger ones like China, Russia or Japan we would have to think about. |

Hi Andrea, I never wanted to think this way...I just wanted our young men out of there. But I think we will be a bankrupt country if we leave.
Maybe China would go in and become the superpower. We would be owned by China. I have been hearing that they are going to be the next superpower for quite sometime. I hate predicting things like this. |

I have never thought that the U.S. should be the 'worlds police force'.
We are not in a war in Iraq! Congress has not declared war since ww2. Our 'war' is here at home...we are so devided, it is sickning. About the only thing congress can agree on is a pay raise for themselves, Sometimes I think 'why do we need congress anymore, we have plenty of laws on the books and some of those arn't enforced'. Maybe we should bring our 'policemen' home from around the world and let them clean up our cities...there are probably more U.S. people killed than in Araq. |

I think China has been a superpower for quite a while already.

Hi, everyone! Good to feel the bonhommie....
I do think that people whether they agree or not think better when they feel convivial, and I'm glad that these threads provide such an atmosphere. I'm actually dashing out for dinner and will get back to Brenda's key question later. Oceans |

Hi Sexysweeti! Havent't seen you ina while...
By my observations here in China, and talking to my students...think it would be a very long time before China could go in and be the super power...although it's a communist country, the people here are beginning a movement of their own. They are a peaceful people in spirit and certainly do not want to take on the characteristics of America...of this I am certain. And as far as the China being a super power...I think it already is, but in a different way Good to see you |
|
|
|
But China has a foot in almost every country already, so the time doesn't seem to be too far away. And if the US retreats from Iraq, they could start sorting out their own problems. They do need a break, sort out finances, crimerates and borders.

Oh I agree with what you say Andrea...but I highly doubt that China would step in military action...maybe wrong, but just from the climate here in China I just can't see it. They are so opposed to America being in Iraq...always questioning me...why are Americans such bullies? And why does your country stick it's nose in other peoples business?
|
|
|
|
That is is a question all over Europe, Americans are bullies, even tried to bully their Allies into the war, and they stick their nose into everyones business.

Hi Wildflower, I don't know you by name...my name is Brenda. And I am very surprised to here that you are in China. It is good to hear that China is a peaceful country.
I think for financial reasons, we need to stabalize Iraq and be paid back for the war. Because I do think if we leave, other countries are going to be in there for the oil. Even if they don't agree with the dominance of America. I don't agree with it either. So then the other countries would feel obligated to help stabalize and would have financial interest, or maybe not. Wasn't it Alphganastan that fought and fought and fought, until Russia retreated. They never stop fighting. |

I ran into this when arriving in Ecuador back in 2004...although that country had a little more meat if you will to bite into. For what our oil companies had gone in and done to their land....and the mess that was left...Of course many promises made...and broken..
It's been an interesting journey...as when meeting people they view me the same, until they get to know me...and am told so I think that it is a hard position that America is in...as we do get countries asking for help...I guess trying to create the balance will never be an easy task...especially when we have the people in power that we do... But your right, it would be nice if America just stayed home for awhile and worked on it's own problems |

Hi Brenda...JJ here...
When I view the middle east...my thoughts are pretty muddled...to be honest...As I look at all the wars and fighting that goes on, that has been there for centuries.. I'm not sure that any peace keeping force will truly ever cause peace there... And then it comes down to a question of monetary gain for anyones involvment...Can we expect success with a foundation from greed? I just don't see it.. Honestly don't know what the answer is |
