In shining armor.
I know many guys like to be that, but how many women really want that? I am really curious. Maybe times have changed (or I think they have) I don't NEED a guy to come to my rescue or anything. I'm a big girl and can hold my own. If I do something, I will own up and take the consequences. I don't need rescuing. It's nice having someone their to have your back.....but I don't need someone leading the charge or fighting my battles either. Can anyone shed some light on this? Are some old fashioned? Is that the reason? What is the reason that some men feel the need to rescue a woman or why do some women feel the need to have someone rescue her? curious minds want to know. I would think it would be draining on a relationship....But that is just me |

I have wondered the same thing. Personally, I have equated it with the man just wanting to be in control or the woman wanting to be controlled.
Just my experience. Men seem to think that because I am not a "normal" woman that they have to do everything for me and I can't do anything by myself. SOOOO not the case. |

I don't think that it's about
wanting to be in control (well, mebbe for some) it's about honesty, integrity, respect and a somewhat altruistic mindset. (other's matter) I don't want to rescue... just help. if you don't need help just say so. Helping other's is sometimes letting them do it on their own. here's a old world definition. Comforter: one who comes alongside to fortify... comes along beside you, doesn't lead the charge. just my "old fashioned" opinion... I gotta go shine my armor now... haha. (no soup for you, Kim... haha) |

I have been rescued by damsels in shining armor before. The armor was on their vehicles and I was impressed with their four wheel drives.

I prefer Paladins, they have less hit points but can restore your health when you are fighting a gang of orcs..which, in my experience can be very helpful...

Lots of men want to prove their utility. They want to show a woman she'd be better off with a man like himself around to take care of things when needed.
You're right, most women don't need this anymore. But, many guys feel they have no other card to play. |

I dont think most women need it , but I think most women probably dont mind a useful man...
I dont imagine being able to take the lead or take care of business is a negative attribute for a man to have, whatever terms we use to describe it,, |

A man that can sit at the head of her table and she can respect. Not a macho, demanding or domaninating man, but a true alpha male that will lead when needed. |

I posted this and then fell asleep.
I want someone to stand beside me, not fight for me. I'm perfectly capable of holding my own. I would rather have a partner in crime rather than a champion. I don't know....I think maybe sometimes it's old fashioned thinking. It's "the man's job" type of thing. I would think it would be very taxing on a relationship for a guy to always be the hero and coming to a woman's rescue. That is just me though. I'm just trying to understand why some men feel the need and why some women look for that. (btw Ted....gimme my soup!!!) |

Do I need it? No.... Would I like a guy who is capable just in case something happened and I did need it? Yes.

Myka,
In other words....it is the thought that counts? I agree with that. Nice to know it's there.....but not needed |

I'm ok with it just so long as he can control it... I don't need a guy trying to save me from life every other day.

I think we all need a hero once in a while. But the hero needs to let me be the hero at times too.
I'm talking more about the ones that live that way on a day to day basis. |
