Does your food ever get cold when you go on dates? Do you talk more than you eat? Do you feel awkward when your date is talking to you and you are busy chewing?

Yep! When the purpose is to get to know someone, I focus on them ... not so much on eating. I was taught not to eat and talk at the same time so something has to give. When I know someone well (or at least better), I'll spend more time eating with my mouth politely shut. There is an art form to asking a quick question right before sticking a fork in your mouth.

When I get carried away talking my food usually gets cold...This happens when I have lunch with friends that I haven't seen for awhile too...We have a lot of catching up to do and usually talk more than we eat....I'd probably eat more if I went on a date with a non-talker or a quiet boring friend.

No, I don't give my food time to get cold! lol I HATE cold food. Don't get me wrong; I don't "shovel" my food like someone who hasn't eaten in days, but since I don't enjoy a cold plate of food I eat (and talk in between). I don't feel awkward when out on a dinner date. If it's a messy type of dish/appetizer, it may take a bit of thinking/juggling..haha, but that's what napkins are for!

One first dates, I usually eat something small before the date and order a salad or something small. Not because I don't like eating in front of people. But, just so that I can talk and have a conversation.

Afterwards it's just good etiquette to throw/break plates, then push all the other dishes onto the floor and commence to a heavy make-out session on the red checked table cloth, in front of the patrons, waitresses and powers that be ... They usually tip ya pretty well, too ...

I'll let the conversation suffer before I will let my food go cold. Won't talk while I'm chewing or chew with my mouth open either.

If I'm the one paying for the meal, you bet I'm gonna eat it while it's hot - and I'm not about feeling awkward if we agreed beforehand that we were gonna have something to eat, not just meet for coffee ... where's the problem ... ?
