If I may dare say so, Frank Darabont is to Stephen King as Stuart Gordon is to H.P. Lovecraft, and that this movie captures the essence of Lovecraft.

Masters of Horror: Dreams in the Witchhouse (2005)

An episode directed by Stuart Gordon and a very accurate portrayal of the source material. I really wished it could have been flushed out for another 30 minutes into a full length feature (along with a little bigger budget for SFX as the rat was a little lacking).

The Attic Expeditions (2001)

Here’s an underrated little gem. While not directly related to anything HPL actually wrote, I feel it does an excellent job creating that Lovecraft feel. Another highpoint is seeing Jeffery Combs as a ganja smoking mad scientist.

This is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for those who like Lovecraftian films. They do pull directly from some of the Lovecraft mythos. Despite being an extremely low budget production, the dedication by the filmmakers and cast really shows. This dedication creates a film that is truly greater than the sum of it’s parts.

This is Lovecraft filtered through Stephen King and then adapted by Frank Darabont.

A Short Film About John Bolton (2003)

Neil Gaiman directs this 30 minute short film inspired by the Lovecraft Story "Pickman's Model". It's done in the docudrama format which I feel is perfect for the story.

La Setta (a.k.a. The Sect and The Devil’s Daughter) (1990)

An Italian re-tread of Rosemary’s Baby with some Lovecraftian references thrown in for good measure.

The Mist! How'd I forget that? King has quite a few Lovecraft inspirations(Jerusalem's Lot, Crouch End, It)

The creature in the 2010 flick Altitude was very Lovecraftian.

I rented this movie because of the artwork, wow, I learned the hard way to not judge a movie by it's art! If you wondered what I consider the worst horror film I've seen....this is it!

Made in 1978, and the filmmakers actually tried to remake it a couple of years later as Curse Of The Cannibal Confederates.

When I rented this and got it home, I found a folded up note inside the case- it was from a customer telling the video store that they should be ashamed for carrying something so bad. I laughed at this and thought I was in for a treat...I was wrong. When I took the note back I told one of the clerks that they should read the note, and that I agree with it

I'm a big Larry Cohen fan, I love the first 2 It's Alive movies. But I'm not exactly sure what Cohen was thinking when he decided to show the babies grown up!

It’s got an ET threat that takes all of the subtle sexual undertones of HR Giger’s classic Alien design and replaces it with a penis that looks like it’s been made out of a plastic pipe and some moldy meatballs.
