Stop the START Treaty

Center for Security Policy |
Aug 02, 2010

President Obama's fixation with "devaluing nuclear weapons" has prompted him to adopt policies, to take programmatic actions and to sign a flawed new arms control treaty that will leave the United States and its allies significantly less secure. The Center for Security Policy looks forward to providing some badly needed perspective on the true nature and grave risks associated with the President's denuclearization agenda - with a view to laying the groundwork for a much-needed course correction during Senate consideration of what would better be described as the 'False START' treaty.
Call your senators today and tell them the American people deserve a real debate on such a vital part of our national security. Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121. A switchboard operator will connect you directly with the Senate office you request.

I am sure they will have a nice anti reduction piece judging by their homepage.

'The philosophy of "Peace through Strength" is not a slogan for military might but a belief that America's national power must be preserved and properly used for it holds a unique global role in maintaining peace and stability.'

I will read it later, but I doubt it will change my philosophy
'more warheads more death'

was there this demand for real debate back in 2002 when Bush took part in the Moscow Treaty? I dont remember, might have been,,,,

but in any case, this was actually a campaign 'promise', one I was looking forward to,,,glad its pushing through

This treacherous and incompetent narcissistic man-child thinks nothing of UNILATERALLY reducing our ability to DETER an attack against us by (1) TELLING the world the EXACT number of nukes we hold in our arsenal and, (2) REDUCING our stockpile by FORTY PER CENT with NO corresponding reduction by ANY OTHER NATION. This is assholish and malfeasance in office. Can no one bring suit against this little prique for breaching the IMPLICIT CONTRACT WITH THE AMERICAN PEOPLE he made when he took his OATH OF OFFICE ... ?

i know.. it's like everyone forgot what kept a nuclear war from happening in the first place... the nukes is what kept a war from happening. an equal balance of them.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, didn't he supposedly swear the oath in private in the Oval Office?

Especially now that China has boosted their defense spending.

Common Sense and Nuclear Warfare
By Bertrand Russell

http://www.ebooksx.com/Common-Sense-and-Nuclear-Warfare-Routledge-Classics-_322270.html

download this short book for free.

Bertrand was a mathmetician and a philosopher, a great social thinker and nobel prize winner.

He wrote Common Sense and Nuclear Warfare in 1959.

If you want to know how far we've come since 1959 - read the book and experience the climate surrounding that period in the not so distant past.

You may not be interested in history, but the relevance of the book is timeless and the logic through which the philosophy shines in nealy flawless.

It was a controversial piece of writing at the time, but some people in high places saw the truth in it.

Unfortunately as times change people forget and young people who never knew that history tend to regress.

Reading the OP brings back memories of fearsome times that was made even troublesome as the year past and we learned of how narrowly we escaped annihilation.

Its a short book - easy to read, enlightning, and FREE - and after reading the OP perhaps it's time to dredge up that history and the solutions of one man - Bertand Russell.

Funny thing is how we make Neutron Bombs with a half life of hours vs. the half life of the waste left by conventional thermonuclear and atomic weapons who leave pollution that lingers for millions of years afterwords. The half life of Uranium IS 25,000,000 years and that is when it loses HALF of its intensity!

And all the eco weenies and tree huggers freaked the F out over a cleaner nuke!

Stupid tree hugging peace pushers piss me off so badly!

Do they honestly think China isn't out to screw us?

I believe we need a whole arsenal or nuclear weapons but I think we are way over what we really need.I believe a thousand nuclear ICBMs is more than enough to keep us safe and also kill every person on earth several times over. That last time I heard we had well over 10,000 nuclear missiles. These are extremely expensive to maintain.Your pissing money away on all these un needed nuclear missiles that will probably never be used or become obsolete anyways.

Submarines equipped with ICBM's on board is all we need. They can be anywhere at any time.Scrap the obsolete land based doomsday missiles and save the country billions.
