Topic: Starting a conversation | |

Someone had a thread about what to say or how to start a conversation,
(something to that affect) So i took notice to the first conversation i had a with a stranger..(today) i was at super market waiting for some turkey and this beautiful young lady said heyyyyy (mighta met her one night) who knows she had a Hawaiian shirt on i said how was Hawaii she laughed she asked how i was...i said good i said so you moving to Hawaii tryin might with the locals or what ...(she laughed again) they handed me my food ...and i said hey have a good night...she smiled and said you as well .. i mean it wasn't the most intellectual conversation in the world .. but it worked... how do people have no topics to talk about? i'll talk about the grout on the floor not matching the ceiling tile if you catch my drift |

I've wondered that before. Geez, a simple talk about the weather can break open into a conversation about other things.
It's 105 here. Gotta love Texas. |

I was wondering the same thing cause I was confused....are there houses that have ceilings that are tiled? That could be a conversation in it's own!

Yeah, I can ALWAYS find something to talk about -- M-theory, sahelanthropus tchadensis, chassitron particles, whatever.
I just can't find anybody to talk to. |

A conversation usually implies that someone gives a response to something you said. Conversations can die after a "howdy," "hi," what's up," or "nice evening isn't it," if no response comes with it. A smile and nod isn't much of a conversation, or for example, when I say those things, it isn't easy to look someone in the eye when they've just sprayed you with mace.

I never meet a stranger. Although I'm a little shy when it comes to going up to a woman and saying something. Do you think "my what big elbows you have" would work? lol

I am very introverted, and not only do I like to think before I speak, I will seldom say anything unless there is a reason for it being said. Not everyone shares the same communication style I think u make a good point tho - A comment on a nice shirt, or something like that is a good starter |
