I am researching something now that you may find interesting. Jayne too since she lives in PA. Licking and Porter Townships in Clarion County, Pennsylvania made history, by adopting ordinances that eliminate a corporations ability to claim ANY constitutional rights as a “person”. This is something that the framers of the constitution intended but corporations started eroding the power and meaning of that wonderful document, almost before the ink was dry. Very interesting reading actually. If your forefathers were alive today they would be absolutely furious with both Democrats and Republicans. Corporations do not have rights, people have rights. Wonderful history "The Declaration of Independence" that has been perverted by big business and banking interests. Sorry, I will kick myself off of my soapbox. You should have seen the battle between US gov, DOW chemical, and Viet Nam Vets/families....guess who won and who got shafted. Excellent book out there called, Waiting For An Army To Die: The Tragedy of Agent Orange by Fred A. Wilcox. You should try and read it. Dioxin killed my husband and many other Vets and a lot of us have disabled /dead children too. Ouch, that is terrible. I will read that book. My Dad was a Korean War vet and I was an army brat growing up. He was wounded in Korea and has some nasty stories to tell. We lived for a time at CFB Gagetown where US and Canadian Forces tested both Agent Orange and Agent Purple, as well as other defoliants before we moved there. I have done quite a bit of reading on this subject and know what you are talking about. Tragic really since so many soldiers were exposed. Canada is way behind the US is providing any kind of compensation to veterans. Continual state of denial. I am so sorry to hear that your husband was taken away and how it happened. |

Carole, I am so sorry!!! If there is anything I can do to help, let me know. I will even listen to him rant if he needs a shoulder!!! I was involved in the class action suit and have MANY contacts. As a widow and mother of a disabled child, I still have some clout.

I am feeling sort of bad. From what I have seen, this is supposed to be a happy forum. I hope I am not breaking some unwritten protocols by bringing up some of these subjects.
It is hard to separate the advocate and activist within me from the person. So please do tell me if this should be discussed somewhere else. BUT just tonight, I have already learned so much about you that endears me to you and I would never have known if not for these subjects. So, is it bad form to be political here? |
