Here's a simple question for both men and women. Would you go on a date with a guy or gal who is wheelchair bound due to some sort of disability?

Yes and I have

Are they still human????
Then the answer would be: yes. One of the first guys I had a crush on was a paraplegic but I just saw a really nice guy who was interesting and could make me laugh. |

Considering I am "disabled" myself, yes. I actually just ended a relationship with a guy because he was unable to deal with what he perceived as my problems. We are all people looking for companionship.

Whether or not I would date someone who is in a wheelchair depends on the person and not the wheelchair

We are all people looking for companionship. These answers are interesting as I'm disabled, but not in a wheelchair. It's not visable, but when I disclose this to women on the internet they seem to disappear. My disability - my heart, A-Fib. Last Fri I went into the E/R as my pulse was continually high, 160 at rest. Took 7 hours to get my heart beat in rythum. Is a disability that is visable more acceptable than one that's not? Ron |

A disability is a disability
some worse than others some people would consider what I have a disability yep there is somthing wrong with me. Haha do I consider it a disability? No friggin way in the world I'm diabetic- insulin dependent. Yep. Cats outta the bag. Haha so I gotta stab my stomach 4x a day ya don't like it-- don't ****in look !! Never stopped me from nothing!!!! (please give to the Ntnl Diabetes Assn. ) |

It depends on how much care is needed....the extend of the injury or disability. I have spent the last 27 years raising my boys alone, I have done it all and now they are grown up and I want some time for me.
Maybe that comes off selfish, I have earned it.... |

My best friend is paraplegic. He is on another dating site and women won't give him the time of day when they find out he is wheelchair bound. He is very good looking, has a good job, owns his own home and is very self-sufficient.
I am disabled myself with bipolar disorder and I have the same problem that my friend has. We both are very nice caring decent people but in reality women we have encountered only see the disability and not us. But that's ok...we both keep going and try to find a woman who is right for us. Anyone else whpo is disabled, please don't give up...we all want to have love in our lives and someday the right person will come along and see you for who you are. Just keep looking until you find them. |

Whether or not I would date someone who is in a wheelchair depends on the person and not the wheelchair I totally agree!!! When I was in high school, one of my best guy friends was in a wheelchair (swimming accident). He got more girls than any of the football jocks...simply because of his attitude and his spirit! There was hardly ever a time you didn't see him wheeling down the hallway without at least one hot lookin cheerleader on his lap grinning from ear to ear!!! It has nothing to do with the physical disability...but more whether or not they have an "attitude disability" also! |
