Topic: EMAIL VERIFICATION *UPDATED* | |
---|---|
*6/16/10 PM edit*
Until we can iron out the final kinks in the process, we have made this optional again. This means that you might get the email verification screen, but you will still be able to bypass it and use Mingle2 Mail. In order to do this, just click on the 'Mail' tab on the page where you are prompted to verify. ______________________________________________________________________ *6/16/10 AM edit* We now have a way to work around this situation. If you have a valid email address, have tried the troubleshooting steps at the bottom of the verification screen (also noted at the bottom of this post), and the verification email has just not shown up in your personal email, click the 'Contact Us' link near the top of this page. Fill out the form and submit it, typing "email verification" in the 'Subject' field. You may click the following link to get to the form in question, as well. http://mingle2.com/welcome/contact_us ______________________________________________________________________ For those members with valid email addresses who are unable to get past the verification step, we are developing on a work-around. I'm hoping it will be done tonight, but I don't have a real solid estimate at this point. Thanks to all who have reported the problem. For those who are having trouble and have not tried it yet, make sure you click the How? link in the tip below. You'll find it right near the bottom of the email verification screen. If you do not receive a verification email within a few minutes, please check your "spam", "bulk", or "junk" folder. How? |

Don't know if this issue still exists, but it might be filtering certain email accounts out. The forum I managed quite awhile back had the same process, the email accounts were automatic so some just wouldn't get the verification email because of a predetermined list. |

FearandLoathing, thank you for the suggestion. We appear to have a good idea of what to do at this late hour. I'm sitting here with the systems administrator in charge right now, though, and I'm passing any reasonable suggestion along. We're going to see if we can get this done tonight, but there's a chance it will have to wait until tomorrow.
We will have everybody back in action soon, in either event. |

Hey, maybe an idea to save your servers some space and keep them from crashing due to the temp problem with the verification email. Pin this topic to the top of the recent posts list and advise us here when it is figured out. Would also save yellow rose from having to chase down all the topics on this to answer them....lol...just a thought

mrpeanutbutter, your current email address is not valid (all of our emails are bouncing back). So, you'll have to update it in order for you to be able to use Mingle2 mail.

My email is now accessible. I never got an email to verify, and the verification screen no longer appears. If you just bypassed the system to try to get the bug out, thanks guys, and I am ready for the next effort...lol...I promise to not get upset at y'all. Thanks much guys

I'm having the same problem. I do not receive the email, and cannnot send messages. I've had the same email address for 14 years, so it is valid. Using Vista 64-Bit system with MSIE 7.0. I've checked the spam folder, and the emails are not there, either.

Often, azsunset57, the web trust sites, mistake genuine mail. This is usually due to settings. Those type sites use pgp encryption. What this means , is, the attempted mail has been caught by high security settings.
High security settings, can (and will) block certain emails. Basically, (without going into specifics) those type watchdogs are often wrong. PGP, is actually a term used for "pretty good privacy" and it's dependent on the user to specify security settings. In addition to the above, if you happen to be on a networked system, then only the system admin can make changes to those settings. Mingle2 is 100% safe. We do use tracking cookies, in order to monitor site progress, and those cookies will need to be enabled, in order to access the site. |

Dolfanatic, for now, you may simply bypass the verification process. In order to do this, just click on the 'Mail' tab on the page where you are prompted to verify.
