sure, someone in one department said they may not process the immigrants being sent from AZ. The President ordered another department to review the civil and other implications of AZ law before going forward and making a decision of whether to process....

I'm against what Arizona is doing. Corruption and profiling WILL happen. We can walk down the street with no identification and Hispanics won't be able to do that. That is very wrong.

Imagine being in a restaurant and a Hispanic couple was sitting at the table next to you and police officers were eating there too. The police officers will be able to interrupt their meal and humiliate them and ask them for their identification. White people would never put up with that.

We do have a horrible problem with illegals - in the schools and hospitals too. It's costing us BIG money.

Clinton, both Bushes, and Obama won't touch this issue because they will lose Hispanic votes.

I would like to see Obama have the National Guard or even the Marines patrolling the border, 24/7. We need a longer fence too.

STOP posting misinformation.. The police cannot ask for identification if someone is sitting in a restaurant.

Jesus H Christ...

They did attempt to change that part of the law.

What they did not change is if you are driving and your blinker is not working and you turn, the police can stop you and if you forgot your drivers license they can detain you indefinitely if they suspect you are an illegal alien on sight.

So it will result in profiling and harassment.

There will be profiling. It happens even now to black people.

My understanding is that they were already profiling before and that is part of the reason it was included in the bill. They didn't see the wrong of it.

It is hard to see racism when you are the dominating race.

If they suspect that they are illegal, they can. It's called profiling. It exists now with black people and it will exist with the Hispanics.

acually, although profiling does exist,,,,its not legal to be asked to raise up from a restaurant chair UNLESS suspected of some other violation.

As the law is currently written,,,immigration status CANNOT be the reason for the original contact,, immigration status can only come into play during the investigation of some OTHER violation.

They added that as diversion.

How can you suspect an illegal alien is such on sight?

They are to detain them if they suspect during the commission of their job that a person is illegal on sight.

Also they are allowing them to detain these individuals indefinitely which is a violation of civil rights too.

Our federal government refuses to enforce their own laws, and gives special privileges to people based entirely on their proximity and access to our borders.

I didnt read anything about an indefinite detention, but I have asked about suspicion during the course of questioning,,,things like several in a car, noone speaking english, acting nervously,,,,

I suppose those could be the actions of someone who is someplace they shouldnt be,,,but I still think it would cause less controversy if they just demanded ID from anyone they stop (take the race element out of it) and require people to either know their social security or Visa number for police to run as verification of their ID. (similar to how they require insurance papers and drivers license to validate not only your identity but your RIGHT to be driving)

I know when I went to Brittain WITH my passport, I was treated very suspect and checked out very thoroughly(this is even though I had my papers) because I traveled there so often. Of course, this was a right given to customs but it is not so uncommon or extraordinary. The only thing extraordinary is that it is now falling upon the shoulders of common cops...

To deport the Illegal Aliens, Mexican and any other nationality here Illegally, Arizona State Police can transport them to any border crossing in Arizona.

As soon as they see them cross to Mexico, the Police can leave.

Photos and fingerprints can be given to the border patrol in case any try to come back.

They really don't need help of Napatilano.

I went to Belarus in 2002. I went by train from Berlin. When I got to the Poland Belarus border I had to get off the train and have a nice chat with the local KGB officer. Travel around the world and see what goes on in other places.

For those who are against the law.Are you saying that we should not have borders? It sounds like you are saying that you don't want border control.

Dragoness's photo
Mon 05/24/10 07:14 PM
I want us to patrol our borders as should have been done all along. I want them to get the illegals who are here identified, processed, given some kind of punishment or fine for their failure to come in here the right way and put them to the back of the line for citizenship. And get our borders under control. The failure to control our borders is the top reason we have the problem we have now.

I will not ever support racist laws that can violate civil rights.

Arizona is a shame to us for their ignorance and unintelligence.

how about we make them pay for a work visa and let them work for a period of time and then have to return home like everyone else has to do.

No need to send them to a place they no longer consider home. If paying for the work visa or whatever would be considered a punishment fine.

I am in total opposition to allowing anyone who has been here a few months or a few years to stay because they don't want to go home. That's ridiculous. Everyone else has to go and so should they.

I disagree, they have created a life here and should be punished for their not doing the right thing but they are here and living already.

I agree. Have them pay a fine and send them to the back of the line in their country of origin.

They knew the risks when they jumped the border.

All, 100% of the ones I know consider Mexico their home.

Northerners ain't got a clue.
