Pelosi Says She's Told Catholic Cardinals, Archbishops and Bishops They Must Tell Catholics Immigration Reform is a 'Manifestation of Our Living the Gospels'
Monday, May 10, 2010 By Nicholas Ballasy, Video Reporter (CNSNews.com) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said she has told Catholic cardinals, archbishops and bishops that she wants them to speak from the pulpit for immigration reform and tell Catholics who oppose it that reform “is a manifestation of our living the gospels.” In her comments at the Catholic Community Conference on Capitol Hill on May 6, Pelosi specifically referenced illegal immigrants in America, saying as a practical matter, “we can’t say to people, 12 million of you, ‘go back to wherever you came from or go to jail.’”(She don't speak for me or millions of other Americans. I'd have the law enforced and have them on chain gangs repaying to Americans what they've stolen. Then, boot 'em back) ![]() “I would hope that there’s one thing that we can do working together as we go forward that speaks to what the Bible tells us about the dignity and worth of every person -- and that is on the subject of immigration,” Pelosi said in her remarks. “Because I think the Church is going to have to play a very major role in how we, in how people are treated.” “The cardinals, the archbishops, the bishops that come to me and say, ‘We want you to pass immigration reform,’” disclosed Pelosi. “And I say, ‘But I want you to speak about it from the pulpit.' “I want you to instruct your, whatever the communication is -- the people, some of them, oppose immigration reform are sitting in those pews and you have to tell them that this is a ‘manifestation of our living the gospels,’” said Pelosi. “Our patron saint of San Francisco, St. Francis of Assisi, he said, ‘preach the gospel --sometimes use words.’ We need the words to be said because it isn’t being picked up automatically.” |

A recent Zogby poll
Most members of religious denominations do not feel that illegal immigration is caused by limits on legal immigration, as many religious leaders do; instead, members feel it’s due to a lack of enforcement. • Catholics: Just 11 percent said illegal immigration was caused by not letting in enough legal immigrants; 78 percent said it was caused by inadequate enforcement efforts. • Mainline Protestants: 18 percent said not enough legal immigration; 78 percent said inadequate enforcement. • Born-Again Protestants: 9 percent said not enough legal immigration; 85 percent said inadequate enforcement. • Jews: 21 percent said not enough legal immigration; 60 percent said inadequate enforcement. Unlike religious leaders who argue that more unskilled immigrant workers are needed, most members think there are plenty of Americans to do such work. • Catholics: 12 percent said legal immigration should be increased to fill such jobs; 69 percent said there are plenty of Americans available to do such jobs, employers just need to pay more. • Mainline Protestants: 10 percent said increase immigration; 73 percent said plenty of Americans available. • Born-Again Protestants: 7 percent said increase immigration; 75 percent said plenty of Americans available. • Jews: 16 percent said increase immigration; 61 percent said plenty of Americans available. When asked to choose between enforcement that would cause illegal immigrants to go home over time or a conditional pathway to citizenship, most members of religious communities choose enforcement. • Catholics: 64 percent support enforcement to encourage illegals to go home; 23 percent support conditional legalization. • Mainline Protestants: 64 percent support enforcement; 24 percent support conditional legalization. • Born-Again Protestants: 76 percent support enforcement; 12 percent support conditional legalization. • Jews: 43 percent support enforcement; 40 percent support conditional legalization. In contrast to many religious leaders, most members think immigration is too high. • Catholics: 69 percent said immigration is too high; 4 percent said too low; 14 percent just right. • Mainline Protestants: 72 percent said it is too high; 2 percent said too low; 11 percent just right. • Born-Again Protestants: 78 percent said it is too high; 3 percent said too low; 9 percent just right. • Jews: 50 percent said it is too high; 5 percent said is too low; 22 percent just right. |

So according to Pelosi we should soon expect Excommunications, Inquisitions, and of course a new crusade to the Holy Land?

For Catholic faith ‘leaders’ to support amnesty for ILLEGAL aliens, those leaders have to violate the law of the Catholic Church, the Catechism .
The Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 2241 states “Political authorities for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants’ duties toward their country of adoption” “The Catechism of the Catholic Church, Paragraph 2429 states that anyone has the right of economic initiative, but qualifies this by stating ‘He (the immigrant) should seek to observe the regulations issued by legitimate authority for the sake of the common good.’ And that would apply to Bishop Gerald Kicanas and anyone who under his jurisdiction. The Church is very clear about that. |

So according to Pelosi we should soon expect Excommunications, Inquisitions, and of course a new crusade to the Holy Land? Ahh you beat me to it! I wonder if this talk of "Pelosi said in her remarks. “Because I think the Church is going to have to play a very major role in how we, in how people are treated.” " includes the typical religious view of exterminate lgbt. >.> so much for treating people well "dignity and worth of every person" I just got finished being bothered by a group of zealots while our eating, they thought nothing of us till they overheard the topic we were on then were shocked to hear further. So naturaly i am laughing so hard right now at this preaching of individual value and respect and caring for fellow human beings. |

ITs fair for those who ask her to support reform to be open about their support,,,its crossing the line to push such support on parishoners though,,,,unless there is a biblical doctrine to back it up and explain it,,, lessons in church should have foundation in The Word or have some relation to it,,
