Here's everybody's favorite newsbunny, Robert 'Gibbserish' Gibbs trying to defend (no matter how unsuccesfully) his boss' use of the term 'teabagger' - intentionally. He's so cute when he tries to defend the indefensible, isn't he ... ? Well, aren't they ALL, tho' ... ? Especially when they PUT IT IN WRITING like 'The ONE' has ... And, if Gibbs 'can't imagine' asking 'O' about it, HOW does he plan to 'check' ... ? The question answers itself ...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2010/05/06/gibbs_evades_question_about_obamas_use_of_teabagger.html Gibbs Evades Question About Obama's Use Of "Teabagger" MAY 06, 2010 REPORTER: Are you able to get an answer on Fred's question about the teabagger quote, if the President is aware that people are offended? GIBBS: Again, I have not seen the book. I can't imagine I'm going to ask the President that, but I will -- I will entertain it. I will check. ABC News reports President Obama used the derogatory term in a new book. |
Your 'balls in your face' (actually, mouth) understanding of the way he used it is correct ... 'Tea Partiers' is the correct reference to the people who are protesting 'The ONE' and his never-ending quest for exponentially-increasing government power and control ... and taxation ... |
I posted this in another thread:
Obama only said what some of them have called themselves. The organizers for the Tea Party had a gimmick. They asked people to send a tea bag to the Oval Office. One of the exhortations was “Tea Bag the Fools in D.C.” A protester was seen with a sign saying, “Tea Bag the Liberal Dems Before They Tea Bag You." They started it. If they didn't like the connotation of the saying, they should have never have said it. There's buttons that say, "Proud to be a Teabagger". http://washingtonindependent.com/67191/the-slur-that-must-not-be-named What the heck is this guy wearing? http://www.flickr.com/photos/davidhglover/3445797046/sizes/m/in/set-72157616821360566/ It says, "Taxed Enough Already Bag". Maddow talks about it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZFtGUNyHdo&feature=player_embedded Part of it: Alongside the often entertaining infighting among all of the warring tea party factions, another complication in the movement has been addressed in a very, very frank terms today by Jay Nordlinger at "The National Review Online." Should the tea party folks really be calling themselves teabaggers? The article opens with the fundamental question for far right conservatives, quote, "To teabag or not to teabag." At issue, many of the very same signs, sound bites and calls to action we have highlighted on this show in covering the movement. For example - (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Teabag the fools in D.C. (END VIDEO CLIP) MADDOW: Mr. Nordlinger also mentioned this now-famous protest sign, "Tea bag the liberal dems before they tea bag you." He did not mention the "Teabag Obama" Twitter page and Facebook group. |
i don't watch the news, but hear snippets here and there...i thought teabaggers was a reference to the boston tea party...but now i'm thinking it's the balls in your face kind of teabagging...which is it??? From Wikipedia........... To tea bag is a slang term for the act of a man placing his scrotum in the mouth of a sexual partner. The practice resembles dipping a tea bag into a cup of tea when it is done in a repeated in-and-out motion. As a form of non-penetrative sex, it can be done for its own enjoyment or as foreplay before other activities, such as oral sex. Tea bagging is not always carried out consensually such as when it is done as a practical joke. It has been used during hazing or bullying incidents with reports including groups holding down victims while the perpetrator "shoved his testicles in the victim's face" or puts his "crotch to his head." |
ok,, this is a rule of thumb I think applies which I tell people who debate over use of the n word
if you are not FAMILIAR With a person,,it is safest to use their name if you find that you have used a term that is offensive(and they will tell you) ,,stop using it with THEM if you are ever not sure if it will offend,, opt not to use it,, you probably arent familiar enough with the individual(s) in question to use it this is a concept, learned in GRADE school ,referred to as CONTEXT 1. The part of a text or statement that surrounds a particular word or passage and determines its meaning. 2. The circumstances in which an event occurs; a setting. some words are acceptable in one context but not in another. , teabag,, as I have heard it referred to in MAINSTREAM media was not used in a sexual context and so I am sure those who speak TO the media probably arent intending to use it that way either,,,,but once it has been stated that it is offensive, it takes little effort not to repeat its use,,, |
" - In the political lexicon of today, it has ONLY the sexual context and connotation. As for " ... not to repeat its use ... " ... ? The ones who use it do so with the full knowledge of its ability to be offensive - they INTEND to be offensive - it's what they DO ... it's ALL they do. As for the "mainstream media", it was CNN's Anderson Cooper who first used the term. Is THAT 'mainstream' enough? |
nice mind reading skills,,, I used it all the way up until the time that Suge told me what it meant (what average person would know a word that referred to such an act?) |
Since 'teabag', in today's parlance / slang / colloquialisms, has only ONE common meaning and context, Which, of course, is a small mesh bag for holding dried tea leaves or other herbs for making tea. " ... in a sexual context ... " - In the political lexicon of today, it has ONLY the sexual context and connotation.
Well, I call them teabaggers because they call themselves teabaggers; and I assumed had this had something to do with teabags (for tea, as in the boston tea patry). I knew some people were being silly and sexually derisive, but that has nothing to do with making tea nor the boston tea party, nor my use of the word. |
On the planet where Tea Partiers come from, Ultra Conservative Republicans are perpetually in power. It's the law. Ergo, to them, what we have now is 'taxation without representation'.
They only want to pay their fair share of taxes-- none. -Kerry O. |
